About this listen

Hunting ghouls bites.

Literally, as Lazarus found out on his last job. Now, to keep from turning into a ghoul himself, he has no choice but to wait in Faerie while his friends work on a cure. Lucky for Laz, he's got friends in high places inside the Summer Court.

Laz is barely settled in when he's caught up in an assassination plot against the Summer Princess, who just happens to be his ex-girlfriend. With the Summer Knight injured, who better to step in and take his place protecting the royal family than Lazarus himself?

In a land with no death, however, the Pale Horseman finds himself at an extreme disadvantage. With his powers limited, and the clock ticking as the ghoul virus ravages his body, Laz had better find the assassins and cure himself fast, or he's dead meat.

Her name is Remy Beau Kerrigan

Lazarus is a daddy. Before that happen, he was the summer knight, fought the ghoul virus, broke up and made up with Emma and split with Beth. Also, he did the small thing and won the war for the Summer Queen. It was a battle that did not seem possible to win. Especially since the Queen decided to absent herself from the fight. Sir Foxgrove said it best when he discovered the Queen was missing in action, “…well I guess we will have to make do with the elves, dryads, and the cowardly dragon.”

Most of the action takes place in fae with Laz, Odette, Beth, malicious plots, and assassination attempts. From the previous book Laz became infected with the ghoul virus. To stop the progression of the virus he had to go to fae. Sarkan, a jinn and head of the ghoul gave this clear as mud information for a cure, “the sickness is death, and only life can pay for death. If you wish to cure yourself of death, you will pay with your life.”

Birth, death and war make this and entertain story in the saga of Lazarus Kerrigan.

Thumbs up!

Similar to another series but entertaining and written well enough to make a person want to listen.

Pleasantly surprised

So I will admit that I wasn’t keen on this series at the beginning. It very much resembles Jim Butcher’s stories and kinda felt like fan fiction. I stuck with it because I’m a big fan of the Harry Dresden universe and I have been through that series at least three times and was missing new stories about Harry.
This book felt more original. The story felt fresher and I’m really starting to enjoy the characters and the universe. I’m really interested to see how this series progresses!

Another crazy exciting adventure of a necromancer 's life!

Knight Shift by E.A. Copen and narrated by Travis Baldree takes the reader on a wild ride to Fairy where Laz is trying to find a cure for his ghoul bite. His ex is there and pregnant with their child, awkward! Someone is trying to kill the baby because it is not full fae! Great mystery along with all the great fantasy, wit, clever dialogue, and action. Loved this story!
Travis Baldree is always excellent in performing all the various voices and emotions that make these books really come alive!

Great Series!

First of all, let's be fair: this series is a complete rip-off! Stolen primarily from Jim Butcher but also to some degree from Tolkien, L. Frank Baum and even Dorothy Parker... and yet, once you've read all the Jim Butcher and Tolkien and are hungry for more there is E. A. Copen's Lazarus Codex. No, not original, but well written and well paced, this series is totally engaging and completely addictive. The story runs through all the books in a connected line with characters you come to care about and who evolve in a way that keeps me coming back for more. Well constructed and expertly read by Travis Baldree, this is a series I can recommend without reservation.

Love rooting for Laz

Laz is one of those guys you can’t help but root for! The need to do what is right and protect others is his undoing and he knows it, but he still stands for what he feels is right. I am secretly hoping he and Emma become a couple. They seem to understand each other in a way no one else can. I can’t wait to see how Remy changes his life and the plot line!

Strong work

Great story and continues with the characters as well easily liked. Some parts of the story fall short. But the ending picks back up and makes it better. Is a good read.

The voice of the reader- he did amazing!

I wasn’t sure at first if I’d like the story- but it soon turned addictive and engrossing with the story line and characters. Excellent work!
