About this listen

It's not that I don't believe Silas when he tells me who he really is. It's that I don't want to. Of all the families in all the world, that boy had to be a Fairfield.

In retrospect, I should have guessed as much. A guy sneaking around the Acre Hotel, so irrationally handsome it leaves me breathless? There's only one bloodline he could've come from.

One night. That's how long it takes before I'm hooked.

Silas shows me, over and over again, that he isn't like his family. He comes from a life of bad luck and hard work, like me. We could have something incredible. And for a while, we do.

I give him everything. Every piece of me I've never given anyone else. I should have known it would come back to break me.

After all, he is a Fairfield.

Contains mature themes.

Good story but…

Mr Kydd needs to read with his natural voice. I loved the story but male reader was distracted with his souther accent. I’m a Texan and we southerners don’t talk like him. Recommend if you can get this on sale.

Didn't Flow With the Rest of the Series.

I liked the first two books of this series, but this book does not fit in. It has a different character. When the characters from the earlier books make an appearance their personalities seem a little off. The southern drawl of the main male character is annoying and doesn't make sense. He lives in a rural town a few hours away and has a very thick accent, but no one else does. I love Alex Kydd, but he focused too much on the southern drawl which gets super annoying real quick. Overall the book was entertaining enough and could even be read as a stand-alone.
