About this listen

In his position as Tracker for the SnowDancer pack, Drew Kincaid must rein in rogue Changelings who've lost control of their animal halves - even if it means killing those who've gone too far. But nothing in his life has prepared him for the battle he must now wage - to win the heart of a woman who makes his body ignite... and who threatens to enslave his wolf.

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Back to the story!

A great continuation of the series, with believable scenes of passion and caring between Indigo and Drew. A++

What an ending

Did enjoy this story. Like Indigo and Drew together. But the ending to this story is a whopper. And the setup this one provides for the next two is excellent. Love this series.

I totally loved this one

What was one of the most memorable moments of Play of Passion?

There was a lot of good stuff in this book, but for whatever reason, the scene where Drew goes cray cray on Mathias during the mating dance was just so hot to me. Guess I like it when men go all territorial.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! This series started off strong by presenting good love stories in an interesting world. By now (book 9) I'm totally into the goings on as much as (and sometimes) even more than the romance. Unlike the 2 previous books where the focus was more on action than romance, this installment hit all the right notes, giving a good balance of action and "action." I also appreciated that neither of these characters had major personality roadblocks, but more...normal...hangups that I could sympathize with more than I have the last few books. It also helped that we had known these characters before this book, so less time was need to build up their personalities.

Any additional comments?

I can't believe I'm already done with book 9. I'm waist-deep in this shizz and loving every minute of it!!

Yummy Changling story!

I was soooo happy to get back tot he changelings, particularly the Snow Dancer Wolf Pack...that Hawk drives me crazy, but this was the story of Drew and Indigo. Drew is the young guy in the Den but he has an important job...well several important jobs. He wants Indigo, Hawk right hand lady, and frankly she thinks of him as a young and inexperienced pup....except he has a body to die for, no wait, he's Riley's little brother and no way is she touching someone she helped train....or is she.

Great addition, wonderful playfulness, really liked this one!

Drew makes his move; the Psy schism grows

Another book I read years ago and need to review.
Lieutenant Indigo Revere and Tracker Drew Kincaid are packmates who work directly with Hawke to protect the SnowDancer Wolf Pack.
But Drew’s lifelong crush on Indigo has developed into more and he has to work hard to overcome her bias against him being 4 years younger. Then there’s her concern about who’s more dominant.
The pack gets help from an unexpected source when they search out surveillance equipment seeded on their lands. A coalition is formed with Councilors Nikita and Anthony; the DarkRiver Leopards and the SnowDancers when Henry and Shoshanna Scott under the guise of PurePsy attempts to assassinate Hawke.
Dawe does a good job of narration.

Pretty good story and addition to the series :)

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I've liked both Drew and Indigo in previous books and was interested to see how they get together. This was a good addition to the series.

Indigo is a Lieutenant of the Snow Dancer wolf pack. She's most dominant female in the pack and a very strong woman. She hasn't seriously dated anyone and dreads the idea of trying to be with a less dominant male but there are few males that fit in with what she sees as acceptable possible mates.

Drew is the tracker for the Snow Dancer pack and also has the duty of taking care of any rogue wolves in the area. Drew actually has the dominance to be a pack Lieutenant but stays out of the pack hierarchy because he's needed in his current spot. This causes some problems for him though because he's interested in Indigo and she sees him as less dominant and too young for her.

Indigo and Drew are friends but Drew has been wanting more with Indigo for quite a while. He's wanted her (in a general manner) for years but more recently he's lost all interest in other women and can only think of Indigo. Indigo, being the most dominant female in the pack, has a particular idea of what she expects in a mate (someone equally dominant and at a similar rank within the pack). She also doesn't want a less dominant male because she has seen an example of how badly a relationship between a dominant female with a less dominant male can go. Because of this example, Indigo can't see the possibility that something like that could actually work. Unfortunately, Drew is 4 years younger than Indigo and also slightly less dominant and Indigo wont see his suitability as a possible mate even when she's having to fight herself in order to shut down her interest in him. I actually felt bad for Drew because Indigo was just determined not to give him a chance no matter what he did. Drew was much more mature than Indigo gave him credit for and was willing to do what ever was needed to get a chance and she just kept holding on to her preconceived notions and wouldn't give him a chance. There were actually a few times when Indigo's actions had me thinking the B-word about her (witch but with a B...) and I didn't want to think this of her but dang, most of the time she was unfairly harsh to Drew.

While Drew is trying to get Indigo to give him a chance, they both have duties to take care of as they work with the younger members of the pack in an outing. While this is taking place, their group finds evidence of Psy infringing on their territory and burying some sort of devices on their land. They start investigating and searching for more devices and the reason why they are there. While this is taking place, Drew does make some headway with Indigo but the she takes things back to square 1 between them if Drew makes a misstep in their relationship. It's rather annoying but Drew does make slow progress with Indigo and gets past some of her barriers. It takes a lot of effort on Drew's part but eventually he gets Indigo to actually fall for him in return and they get enmeshed in the mating dance together. Even then she holds back and has trouble giving in to Drew but it made me happier because at least it meant she was giving Drew a chance. To be honest, I loved Drew and liked Indigo once she stopped fighting things but through a lot of the story I found Indigo very annoying. She had a preconceived notion of what she expected out of a mate and out of Drew and wouldn't see reason when her ideas of what should happen didn't match up with what was the truth. Most of the drama in this story was Indigo getting in her own way and I was very happy once things get settled. As Indigo and Drew are settling their mating, the Psy come and cause problems for the pack. This ends up bringing about some unexpected consequences and Indigo has to make great efforts to save Drew when he's put in danger during the attack. Things do gt worked out and I was happy that Drew and Indigo managed to get their HEA.

This was a pretty good story. Outside of the annoyance factor I felt towards Indigo, I did enjoy the story and liked how it moved the overall series storyline along. Due to the issues encountered with the Psy, the Dark Water and Snow Dancer packs both end up in a tentative alliance with some of the Psy Councillors which should bring interesting things in the future books. I'll be reading the next book in the series immediately because I can't wait to see what happens between Hawke and Sienna. I'd recommend this book (if you can deal with the annoyance of a pigheaded woman). :)
