About this listen

One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall is the candid story of one of the world's most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.

Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21. Within 10 years, he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years, he was the world's biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and became a household name around the world.

Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

LIFE CHANGING/BEST BOOK IVE EVER READ

At first this book will get you hooked because Arnold Schwarzenegger himself reads it. From the first to the last words it has you wanting more. Even though this book goes into extreme details-I now only hope that Arnold writes another book to follow this one.

Lov it

What made the experience of listening to Total Recall the most enjoyable?

I loved hearing Arnold talk about his family life, his body building years, and the movies he made.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Arnold, his strength

Have you listened to any of Stephen Lang and Arnold Schwarzenegger ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he was talking about his mother and Maria's mother, and what they ment to him. The things he learned from Maria's family.

Any additional comments?

I love Arnold, I saw Conan 7 times when it came out. He does sound a bit arrogant though. He was so much the control freak and though that led to much success in his movie and political career I think that it did effect his family life. It's sad that he and Maria have split but I don't know why he would put all that he had on the line for a one time thing with the maid. After listening to it twice, he doesnt appear to me to be a person that would make such a mistake so carelessly. I wonder..............

Motivational

Incredible story of how one can arrive to the US with almost nothing and become a legend through hard work and discipline.

You can love him, you can hate him.

Many people judge a person based on availability bias and other attributions, Arnold Schwarzenegger is not immune to this. In this book he tells it all. Despite what you may think of him, there is no doubt he is one of the most successful people out there who is trying to leave a positive impact on society.

I loved it

Great story, worth the money. And very enjoyable. Just love it. The reader is impressionable, the story line is condense, and the fact that this is a real life story is truly unbelievable.

An Extraordinary Life

Arnold lived the American dream. This book gives you his view of how he pulled it off. It is really amazing. He really did Think and Grow Rich. I am really pleased that he explains his business ventures with as must detail as the Hollywood stuff. His life before Hollywood is fascinating and you can see how he laid the groundwork for his success. You will not get the salacious details about the affair that ended his marriage. But, if that is what you want, just get a gossip rag. Arnold’s life was so much more than that. Be warned, he uses some course words including the F bomb a few times. But, that language was part of his life.

One of the top 5 books I've ever read.

Incredibly inspiring and brutally honest. Fewer men have ever walked earth of this mans stature. All the more remarkable, it makes you feel like you can do it too. It was an honor.

A Legend in his own lunchbox

I really enjoyed this book. I think it is more about Arnold making peace with himself but a good read and insight into his life all the same.

The author only reads the first and last chapter. But that is probably for the best.

Wow!!! So good!

What an amazing life Arnold has had! You won’t be disappointed with this. I’d definitely suggest the unabridged version, the depth of each chapter of his life is fascinating! Arnold reads from just the beginning and end of the book, but Lang does a great job with the rest.
