A tormented Highlander....

Duty-bound to seek revenge, Broderick MacConnaway, son of the Thane of Dunkeld, lives haunted by memories of his lost wife, Aisling. Forming an alliance with the Lochlann family presents its own trials, but if the marriage allows him to fulfill his vengeance, then so be it. Even if the guilt over Aisling prevents him from ever loving again....

The Lochlann lass....

With her uncle seeking to marry her off advantageously, Amabel du Mas, great-niece of Brien, Earl of Lochlann, is still empathetic to the plight of Broderick MacConnaway. Believing she would never meet a man she would look at twice - let alone marry - Amabel nonetheless knows a ghost lies between them. A ghost that she may never be able to lay to rest....

Revenge takes a strange path....

But when sinister intentions surface and Amabel is captured before she has a chance to reveal them, Broderick is forced to see past the deceptions and begin another campaign of vengeance. With conflicts between powerful clans escalating and the well-laid plans unraveling into senseless violence, Broderick has no choice but to work together with his new wife to bring Aisling's killers to justice. But can they find love?

Sing song narrator annoying

The narrator has a sing song voice and a feeble sounding female voices that are super distracting to the moderately written story. Would not pay for it (free listen)

Weird narrator

Skipped many of the middle chapters because the narrator was erratic with the pace and volume of her voice. I tried slowing the pace of the narration with the audible adjustment and speeding
up the pace of the narration.Sadly, neither adjustment made the narration ljstenab!e. Generally enjoy the Scottish stories .....not this one.

AGAIN A TERRIBLE NARRATOR HAS RUINED A BOOK...

I would say that the narrator was to blame for ruining this book, however, it was not good on its own. The writing was like something you would read in a 4th-grade class. Too many characters that were not established and it just got very confusing as to what and who was going on. Terrible. I will not read this author again nor will I buy anything narrated by this narrator.

Sing-song narration is terrible

I'm trying to listen to this for the 2nd time. Lucy Rayner is the worst narrator I've ever heard.. She gives the impression that she needs to talk down to the listener. Soft, loud, soft, loud with a sing-song voice. Awful!!! I've got volume on Alexa on 9 and it's semi-ok until she changes the voices. Then it blows me out of my seat! Author needs to re-release this series with a different narrator...maybe a male? Maybe I'd be able to actually review the story. As it is, I can't get past Chapter 1.
