  • Episode 607: Career Transitions and Meaningful Work with Laura Simms
    Jun 12 2024
We’re talking today about work and navigating career transitions. A career is on top of mind for almost everyone at some point in life. My guest is Laura Simms, an expert in meaningful work who challenges conventional wisdom by asking people to ditch their passions and start with purpose. She’s the creator of Your Career Homecoming, a celebrated career change program that helps people discover the meaningful work right for them. This episode also explores some aspects holding women from advocating for themselves and creating change. If you are ready to take up rightful space in your life and career, tune into my conversation with Laura! You’ll hear: Laura provides some thoughts and advice to those who are in a job where they love the lifestyle and money it provides but are miserable. “That’s not as good as it gets.” (3:44) Examining questions like, “What will be fulfilling for me?” (12:27) Laura’s thoughts on the idea/notion “Do what you love, and you won’t work a day in your life.” (15:09) Meaningful work: Is it selfish or a luxury? (19:47) Advice for individuals who wish to make the shift from employee to entrepreneur (21:45) Worthiness and personal resilience in negotiating salary (29:25) Resources: Private Coaching with Andrea Episode 352: What Holds Women Back in the Workplace with Sara Laschever Your Career Homecoming website Book recommendations: I love a good personal development book, and you do too, right? • Minisode 606: On prioritizing when life gets "too much"
    Jun 7 2024
I’ve often talked to you about doing the bare minimum or “bare mins” when life gets a little or a lot overwhelming. As I move into my new place after separating, I’m in that place. I’ve recorded a minisode for you today on how to navigate when life is upside down, you have too many big things happening, and you’re feeling overwhelmed. Listen in to this short episode where I reveal three things that I hope will help when you find yourself in a similar situation. • Episode 605: Coaching Sydney on Reframing Emotions and Come Home to Self
    Jun 5 2024
This week I have a coaching session episode for you! Sydney, a life coach, joins me as we explore her feelings of being stuck about what she wants in the bigger picture of her life and how she is motivated to build towards something meaningful but isn't quite sure what that looks like yet. One key theme we uncover is the concept of coming home to yourself. At one point during our session, I suggested a possible reframe: “Coming home to yourself, it’s about those pivotal moments where we fully accept every part of who we are—peace, trust, stability, anger, rage—recognizing that every facet is breathtakingly beautiful.” We also explore understanding that, maybe, we can be our own anchor in the storms of life. You’ll hear us talk about: Craving clarity and the desire for connection, seeking an anchor in life. (8:17) Processing emotions: What if being oversensitive isn't a flaw but a human experience? (24:33) Reframing how we look at our emotions, especially Sydney's journey with anger and the inner work involved in understanding and working through it. Helpful

I found the book very helpful and it made me feel like I'm not wrong for speaking up for myself. I have been told my whole life that I should not have said this or that, and I am too out spoken. This book said what I have been doing right and gave me tips for things I can do better. You can use the knowledge from this book for all parts of your life.

This is the second book of her I ha e purchased and I am getting another one to start now.
