Publisher's summary

Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast. Greg’s disappearance leads Stacy into this world of zealots, skeptical law enforcement, and a former rock star turned conspiracy radio host, Reid Singer. Stacy and Reid team up to uncover the truth about the otherworldly religious mythology before them. Will Stacy find her husband and bring down the cult? All will be revealed by the end of Tribulation.

Tribulation comes alive with immersive sound design and stellar multi-cast performance.

Note: Tribulation contains adult language and auditory depictions of violence.

Excellent!

Thriller, sci-fi, humour, it has it all! It's like watching a movie with your imagination. Excellent cast and excellent sound effects. Highly recommended

Wow!

I don't know what I expected, but this far surpassed anything I could have imagined. There were parts that were truly difficult to listen to, such as what I would call torture scenes, and I kept telling myself I was going to stop. But I am glad I didn't. Such a good story that kept me riveted. And the voice actors and dramatic effects were truly fantastic! And very creepy and disturbing. This book is worth the credit!

There was some profanity, but not at all gratuitous. And no sexual situations.

Unsettling, in the best way

Tribulation is a very compelling serial-format story exploring both cult mania and the ethereal potential of what lies just beyond our understanding. The pacing is exciting and always moving forward. Most impressive to me was the way they made the story so immersive. Every scene is multi-cast and the sound effects are so thorough it is easy to get totally absorbed into the story. It is an "experience".

Could make a dangerous drinking game

An interesting concept and there were some really great moments. The cast gives a captivating performance given all that was happening. What threw me off was all the screaming. If this were a drinking game and i took a shot every time someone screamed, I wouldn't survive the night.

Very Confusing

I'm not sure if it was the writing or the added audio effects, but this audiobook was confusing as heck. I don't mind some effects in books, but there were times when so much was going on, I couldn't tell who was saying what. It could be my PTSD, I don't know, but I couldn't get past an hour and a half of this book.

Entertaining enough to pass the time.

Overall I enjoyed it but in the end not all the questions were answered and it tried way to hard to make parallels that didn't fit.

Not sure this counts as reading lol

Lots of spiritual references. Not sure if this was recomended to me because of my previous listening experiences. The production was great, storyline was just ok....although the idea of paranormal activity inside of radiowaves is a new concept to me. Fine for a free audible original.

Why do I say it's not reading? This book was heavy in the production i.e. soundtrack side. There were moments when there was zero talking, just car doors slamming, footsteps walking etc and thus ... not reading.
