From New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Marriage and You Shouldn’t Have Come Here comes a chilling family thriller about the (sometimes literal) skeletons in the closet.

After their mother passes, three estranged siblings reunite to sort out her estate. Beth, the oldest, never left home. She stayed with her mom, caring for her until the very end. Nicole, the middle child, has been kept at arm’s length due to her ongoing battle with a serious drug addiction. Michael, the youngest, lives out of state and hasn’t been back to their small Wisconsin town since their father ran out on them seven years before.

While going through their parent’s belongings, the siblings stumble upon a collection of home videos and decide to revisit those happier memories. However, the nostalgia is cut short when one of the VHS tapes reveals a night back in 1999 that none of them have any recollection of. On screen, their father appears covered in blood. What follows is a dead body and a pact between their parents to get rid of it, before the video abruptly ends.

Beth, Nicole, and Michael must now decide whether to leave the past in the past or uncover the dark secret their mother took to her grave.

Slow start but worth it!

I think this would be considered a “slow burn” story. I almost gave up on it on the first few chapters. The story is sad and heart wrenching overall. But the sadness at the beginning made it hard for me to listen. However, the twists and turns that come are fantastic! I can usually figure out the ending before I get to it. This was not an ending. I saw coming. I was hooked as the story progressed to the point of having to set timers at home to remind me to keep up whatever task I was doing while listening! Great writing and good story!

Fantastic book that I couldn’t turn off I listen to the whole thing from beginning to end in one session!!

She is the ultimate best writer that I have ever listened to on audible or read her books. They keep you on the edge of your sea until the very end always surprises and twist and turns! I’m sad that book ended. It was so good. can’t wait for the next one to come out!

What lengths would you go to for your family?

Believable and relatable characters. Life doesn’t go the way we want it to. Resentment and jealousy can be sympathized with through each step of this book.
It is well written and well narrated. I’m not a fan of the narrators mimicking what the other characters sound like, so I was hoping that they would all voice their own parts in the book since there are so many narrators for this one. But that’s not the case. Despite that, they all did a wonderful job conveying the various emotions and situations they were acting out.
Great job, I recommend this book!

Suspenseful, must listen!

TOP THRILLER 2024•
HOME IS WHERE THE BODIES ARE Ⴆყ JENEVA ROSE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.5/5 stars

I had been wanting to read Jeneva Rose for a hot minute, and so glad I started with this book. This a page turner— finished it as soon as I started because I had to know where this story would end. Michael, Nicole, and Beth are reunited after their mother passes away. Following her death, they are taken on this wild journey of hidden secrets left behind, they also want answers as to why their dad disappeared. As they follow the bread crumbs left behind by their mother, they get their answers and so much more. The twist in this book was so wild! I didn’t expect the ending to shape out the way it did. I also wanted to compliment Jeneva on how she wrote the passing of Laura, and the relationship between her and Beth. I think many will find comfort in that specific chapter. I also really enjoyed Laura’s pov, it really makes you think of what you would do in the situation she was put in. How far would you go to protect your family?

The narrators of the audiobook, were also fantastic! I loved how they were able to capture the suspense and dynamic between the siblings.

Following the Clues

Well conceived mystery buried in a family filled with contempt for each other and their own fears and weaknesses. As a fan of readers/narrators like Scott Brick, Simon Vance, wand Will Patton, I was impressed with the ensemble reading cast who filled the audiobook perfectly. As an Audible member for 20+ years and over 600 titles I commend the author and her team for putting out such a fine book.

Enjoyable

I loved that each character had their own narrator. The story itself is very good I was not expecting the twist.
