Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Rina Kent comes a new dark mafia romance.

I’m out for revenge. He’s out to rule the world.

Kirill and I are as different as day and night. We shouldn’t have been in the same frame or universe.

But we meet under the strangest circumstances.

He’s my superior in the military and the man who’ll introduce me to carnage.

His charm and exterior perfection shouldn’t have tempted me.

Behind the smokescreen lurks a manipulative emotionless monster.

And that monster might find out all my secrets, including the reason why I’m pretending to be a man.

He might also lure me to the point of no return.

This book is part of a trilogy and can't be listened to on its own.

This one lays down the foundation.

Going in knowing that this was going to be a trilogy, I knew the first book was going to lay down the foundation. I wasn't sure what we were going to get, but I was excited to get back into Rina's mafia world.

It wasn't quite what I was expecting, the romance was fairly low to me and I couldn't quite connect with their relationship. But then again, it's still only the first book, so we still have plenty to go through and hopefully a deeper connection as we go along.

There's a lot of secrets being held in this one and I can't wait to unravel everything in the next couple of books. I'm definitely invested even though this didn't reach out to me like her previous books have.

Narrators: I think the major thing that got to me was the narration. Even though I've enjoyed Sebastián York in her previous books, it didn't quite match for me in this one. Not who I imagined for Kirill. And Brooke Daniels, it was okay for this one, but wasn't quite my first choice. I did like the duet style, this was actually my first listening to one this way.

Dark Mafia Romance

Blood of My Monster by Rina Kent is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sebastian York and Brooke Daniels. This is the first book in the Monster Trilogy.

I love Rina's books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and making me fall in love with the characters. I am loving the chemistry between Kirill and Sasha. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Lies of My Monster to be released on March 2, 2023, so I can get more of their story.

Sebastian and Brooke did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, or military romances.

Love a Duet !!!

I love Rina Kent so much!! Anything she writes I'll read....and this was so good. The alpha male and his possessiveness to this strong fmc is so good. The suspense is so well written and that cliffhanger!!!! I love her mafia romance and thought that Sebastian York and Brooke Daniels were so good for these two. Will be reading the second book.

Mafia trilogy

I’m a huge Sebastian York fan & I was stoked he was narrating this audio. This was also my first Rina Kent book & I was desperate for some deep, dark mafia action.

I know this is a trilogy and there is certain groundwork that needs to be laid, but it took me a bit to get drawn into this story. There’s a revenge subplot which I’m a sucker for, but I just wanted more drama & action right off the bat.

And as much as I love Sebastian, I’m not sure he was the best choice for this narration. I was expecting someone a bit more gruff & raw to voice Kirill.

Overall this was an enjoyable listen and I will definitely read more from this author. Thank you Valentine PR for my gifted review copy.

Yessss

Sasha is pretending to be a man and joined the army because her entire family was murdered and she must find answers as to who it was all while staying safe, and she is not safe as her real identity.

Kirill is her captain in the army the one person that gives *him a chance and even works on making him a better soldier even tho it's a waste of his time. They go through a lot during that time and later when Kirill leaves the army to pick up his fathers mafia legacy Sasha heads out to New York with him.

During a mission gone wrong he finds out she is in fact a woman and she explains she is forced to live as a man for safety.

So he goes back to NY and Sasha goes with him and they eventually get intimate. They both continue to hide Sasha as a man all while he gets closer and closer to her. Kirill overhears a conversation Sasha and with her little cousin but Kirill seems to think it’s with her lover because she's hiding a secret so he gets suspicious when she asks for a 3 days vacation which Sasha goes to Russia and Kirill followed her.

It ends on a massive cliffy and I'm dying to know what happens next! Rina is a one click author for me, I always know it will be a good story! Also I've never seen anyone do Mafia men the way she does! It's simply *chefs kiss*

What was that ending?!? I need book 2 ASAP! 🤯

I am a sucker for anything Rina Kent but there was something about this Russian mafia romance that really had me obsessed. It gave off a Mulan reimagined story with all the tension, angst, and spice that I hadn’t realized I truly needed!

This story follows Kirill and Sasha through their military journey. Sasha has recently enlisted and is low ranked where Kirill is the leader of a special ops team. After Sasha is attacked and Kirill saves her she looks to him in hopes that he will train her to improve her skills. Kirill has no intentions of helping Sasha nor does he believe she belongs in the military, but what he wasn’t prepared for was how far her perseverance would take her in hopes of protecting her family.

This book is the first in a trilogy so it was a lot of world building and introducing the characters and it was excellent! The way Rina set up the story for the following two books was thoughtfully open ended! There are so many paths the story can take and I’m dying to find out how everything plays out! Especially, after that cliffhanger! I need answers now!!

I absolutely devoured this story! Both Sebastian York and Brooke Daniels did an excellent job with this narration and brining the characters to life. Exactly how I would have pictured the characters to act in sound in my head is exactly how the two portrayed their narration!

Overall, I highly recommend giving this a listen! Both plot and narration were easy 5⭐️ for me!

Heart pounding cliffhanger

I have listened to several of Rina Kent's books. She is an incredible storyteller and quickly becoming a favorite. Once again she's captivated my attention. I did not want to pause this audiobook. Kirill and Sasha have quite the story! That cliffhanger has left my heart pounding. I absolutely cannot wait for the next audiobook!

Sebastian York is a favorite narrator! I LOVE his voice. Brooke Daniels is a new to me narrator. She did an excellent job. The duet narration was perfection. The narrators brought this book to life with emotional performances that pulled me in. I look forward to hearing them again.

Love this story

I love this trilogy. Kirill is so funny. His inner dialogue is hilarious. I love the relationship between Kirill and Sasha.
I read the books already and am listening to the audiobook now.
I enjoyed it being a duet narration. At first I wasn’t a huge fan of the male narrators voice. But then I felt like he did a good job personifying the character.
I really like the female narrator.
