Publisher's summary

The sixth novel of the galaxy-spanning Sun Eater series merges the best of space opera and epic fantasy, as Hadrian Marlowe continues down a path that can only end in fire.

The end is nigh.

It has been nearly two hundred years since Hadrian Marlowe assaulted the person of the Emperor and walked away from war. From his Empire. His duty. From the will and service of the eldritch being known only as the Quiet. The galaxy lies in the grip of a terrible plague, and worse, the Cielcin have overrun the realms of men.

A messenger has come to Jadd, bearing a summons from the Sollan Emperor for the one-time hero. A summons, a pardon, and a plea. HAPSIS, the Emperor’s secret first-contact intelligence organization, has located one of the dreadful Watchers, the immense, powerful beings worshipped by the Pale Cielcin.

Called out of retirement and exile, the old hero—accompanied by his daughter, Cassandra—must race across the galaxy and against time to accomplish one last, impossible task: To kill a god.

Masterpiece!

Sure, here's a refined version:

"The Unquiet God is easily my favorite space opera of the year. Outstanding character development and heart-stopping action keep you hooked from beginning to end. The narrative builds to a denouement that cleverly hints at future epics.

Still Good, One of the Best

The Sun Eater series is one of the best. I like most everything about it. The only complaint I really have is a literary technique that CR employs perhaps far too often. He often previews a characters unveiling or the speaking of the main character as if the character is outside of himself and didn’t realize he was the one talking until later. “…and then I realized that voice was my own…” It’s no big deal but it happens so often it’s worth noting. This one got pretty complicated at times at certain revelations made it so things we thought we knew about the Sun Eater universe were negated pretty late in the game. Such is the way of the story though. Def worth a listen, it’s good.

Gripping story

I think this was solidly done, good plot twists and progression through the story. Also good blasts from the pasts

This series is tied with Red Rising and my 2 favorite series.

After reading the Red Rising series I searched for something that would scratch the itch of a book series that felt similar and although this series isn't exactly similar it scratches the itch for me. Honestly the writing is better in a lot of ways as well. I'm now desperate for the next book!

As so it continues

I love this series and it’s excellent narration. This one blew my mind around chapter 39. I never lose interest in Hadrian Marlowe.

Keeps getting better with each passing book.

After chapter 38, my mind was continuously blown. I have thoughts, but I believe Hadrian will still become emperor, and that he and Celine will rule together. Just a hunch. That’s the hardest path, to me him allowing himself to be excused is another easy pay, like the 200yrs wasted in Jad. Loving another and ruling, is the hardest path.

Best book worst recording.

Best book by far 100% would recommend. For the love of all thing holy fix the audio. You can hear the pages turn and the narrator breath And lick his lips it breaks the Emerson of the book.
