Publisher's summary

The chief scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) turns a critical eye toward such practices as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and psychokinesis. Are such powers really possible? Science says yes.

According to noted scientist and best-selling author of The Conscious Universe, Dean Radin, magic is a natural aspect of reality, and each of us can tap into this power with diligent practice.

But wait, aren't things like ESP and telepathy just wishful thinking and flights of the imagination? Not according to the author, who worked on the US government's top secret psychic espionage program known as Stargate. Radin has spent the last 40 years conducting controlled experiments that demonstrate that thoughts are things, that we can sense others' emotions and intentions from a distance, that intuition is more powerful than we thought, and that we can tap into the power of intention (think The Secret, only on a more realistic and scientific level). These dormant powers can help us to lead more interesting and fulfilling lives.

Beginning with a brief history of magic over the centuries (what was called magic 2,000 years ago is turning out to be scientific fact today), a review of the scientific evidence for magic, a series of simple but effective magical techniques (the key is mental focus, something elite athletes know a lot about), Radin then offers a vision of a scientifically informed magic and explains why magic will play a key role in frontiers of science.

YouTube interactive interviews given by Radin in promoting this release are engaging

Like his earlier books, this work needed to build a case to establish the validity of the science. I am comfortable with his science and his work over his career, so building this case again became tedious for my taste. I felt that the interviews in his own voice to be convicting and thoughtful. I enjoyed the book, but valued hearing his own voice and sensing his feeling as he would explain the nuisance of his research. Please consider following up your reading with listening to his interviews, many of which are on YouTube.

A book for the scientific minded

Trying to sort through esoteric knowledge, the paranormal, and all types of magick to find the truth can be hard. the author does a fantastic job of creating real detailed scientific studies and explaining what the conclusions could mean. He also does a fantastic job at bringing up counterview points in discussing what could be possible problems with them. From someone who is once incredibly skeptical, this book changed my view on belief. And if you're looking for more reading material don't worry he suggests plenty.

Great narration and interesting content!

I couldn't turn it off. The narration was perfect. I listened to the whole book in 2 or 3 sittings and I was completely interested the entire time. It reminds me a lot of the ideas presented in "The Secret."

Informative and well-done

This book was very well researched, written and narrated! Very informative and a definite must-read for anyone out there even slightly curious about "real-world magic".

A Scientific Argument for the Existence of Magic

This is a great book. The author makes a fantastic argument for the existence of magic through numerous case studies and experiments involving esp, mediumship, remote viewing, and a whole host of other "woowoo" subjects.

Although the material is presented from a scientific perspective, the author does not shy away from exploring esoteric topics as potential reality. This is refreshing, because mainstream science has written off most of these topics as fantasy, refusing to address the unexplanable experiences of millions of people around the world.

The narrator does an outstanding job dictating this book. It's an easy listen and intriguing from cover to cover. I'm looking forward to reading/listening to more works from this author.

Very interesting information

I’ve been recently uncovering clues of our magical abilities as humans created in the image and likeness of God. As a result, my interest has been sparked to inquire into spiritual teaching and I must say this book was very thorough in its approach.
I have a better understanding of our magical abilities and I’m inspired to go further.
Thank you also for the recommendations of other books that I can follow up on to gain even more information!

Loved it!

Radin makes an excellent point about there being a big misunderstanding about magic and science. We've a light year before the people can accept it.

Great information!

Great overview of the subject and history of real magic! Very modern in thought and approach. The book was well read in this recording too! Overall I really enjoyed listening to this book and will likely listen to it again, to catch the information I may have missed the first time through. There are many book and article references and I may look some of them up to better understand the concepts in this book. Overall, great work!
