Publisher's summary

I was the most powerful healer in my world—the best, having devoted my entire life to mastering the art of healing. And yet, for whatever reason, my brother feared that I sought to claim his throne, and he marshaled his forces against me.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, all the same I'd been planning on trying out a certain ritual and now . . .

I'm in another world altogether!? And this body I'm inhabiting, well, it's not mine, but some young guy's! And what's it mean that in this world the gift of the healer is downright pathetic?

Apparently, they simply don't know how to handle power.

Well, I'll show them . . .

A good and interesting start but very Russian

This is one of those stories that is interesting but very heavily influenced by the fact that the authors are obviously Russian it's 1 of those things where Men are men women or women and the roubles king Hither's way is a good start to what should be an interesting story

Loved it!!

Great listen, very cool MC. The story is action packed, witty, and there is also humor. I can't wait for the next book.

A favorable protagonist

The overall story is a great concept. However, I do find myself wishing some portions were more fleshed out.

An introduction to what will hopefully grow into an entertaining series.

While the progress of the story was evident, the growth of the characters (and protagonist especially…) will become more significant as the story continues.

Not too much of a fan of the narration. It didn’t feel like it matched the tone set by the story, or many moments that should’ve felt more powerfully conveyed.

good op power fantasy

title says it all, its pretty similar to the last life series, though instead of the mc coming from a earth like fantasy dystopia and into a medieval fantasy world, this mc goes from a medieval fantasy world into modern Russia that seems to have had magic for quite a while if not always.

Really good

Man i really like the Russian stories, no whiny mc on sight. but i do have to say that the value of the money fluctuates a lot but i don't know if it because of the translation or not

Fun concept, poor writing and narration.

I really want to like and follow this series but there are some crippling aspects to the writing and narration that forbid me from doing so.

The idea of the MC is that of a narcissistic good guy living in an alternate reality playing judge to those he integrates with. This idea is a great foundation for a comedic novel involving fantasy and observing the morals of the human spirit, but it falls flat for these reasons:

1. It is written in first person with limited description/exposition external to the character and hard to follow.

2. frequently it will change into a stream of consciousness that is very difficult to listen to or understand based on the plot.

3. The narrator frequently pauses or does not pause long enough to engage the audience to a scene change or character dialogue change.

4. it is difficult to understand if a character is speaking dialogue or if it is the stream of conscience of the main character.

5. there is limited development of The antagonists the main character interacts with outside of " bad guy I don't care about so a curse him with zits so a curse him with zits for eternity"

You and me both

It started off fine but I just got frustrated with it in the middle. The story starts off with him being asked to go here and do this and then for the next 7 hours he is seemingly just wandering around town doing everything except what was asked of him. There seems to be a street thug or gang around every corner of fantasy Russia and none of them were particularly interesting encounters since he always solves it the same way.

There is a point in the book where the main character gets attacked by the same group of people for the fourth time. He then remarks about how dumb he thinks that is. And I was just like “You and me both” because I felt like he’d just been walking around town and having the same interaction for the last 7 hours. That’s pretty much when I checked out.

I didn’t have any issue with the narration or translation, I just felt like he spent the majority of the book dealing with the same problem over and over and it was always resolved the same way.
