Resumen del Editor

Apocalyptic magic shifting the balance of the world. A reality humanity never believed possible. Survival isn't enough.

The first three books in The Metier Apocalypse series - uncover the secrets within these nearly 1,200 pages!

For Ronan, life in the Bunker was seldom exciting. He had spent all of his time trapped below the surface of the Earth, exploring the same floors over and again. Returning to the surface had always been a taboo subject, something that had always clearly not been an option yet was a necessity. When nature itself fights back against exploration, you stay where it's safe.

When a mere inkling of hope appeared, however, Ronan and his friends jumped on the opportunity. On the surface for the first time in a generation, they discover a world changed beyond their imagination. When threatened by the unknown, and against anything that might be considered logical, they recruit the help of one of the things that caused the apocalypse. The group is determined to fight fire, vine, and pickaxe for every scrap of freedom and turn magic to their own devices.

Ronan decides to put it all on the line. Hell either embrace an attuned Earth, or fall just like the rest of humanity.

Very satisfying listen

Fun story with likable characters and unique plot points. This series isn't heavy on stats, so if you're looking for that just know the author doesn't assign numerical value to absolutely everything to define power. Most of the story is written as first-person internal monologue which, for me at least, helps with picturing what's happening. The world is fleshed out enough that it's pretty easy to slip into and understand what's happening if you're at all familiar with the genre, but manages to not fall into the pitfall of cliche very often at all (which isn't easy at this point, let's be honest).

I really like the narration, but may be described as leaning a tiny bit towards monotone by anyone who's into big, dramatic performance. The voice and tone of the reader is easy on the ears while binging; not high pitched, shouty, or trying to sound constantly excited. The voices given to characters aren't extremely dissimilar, mostly a small change to inflection or accent, which may be a turn off to some listeners. I personally am so, so, so grateful that the girl characters (so far) aren't made to sound very high pitch and whiny like most narration by men. This reading was done with dignity and I will look into more from the same.
