A #1 New York Times bestseller
Four starred reviews!
“Messily human and sincerely insightful.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, multiple award-winning novel Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is an “emotional roller coaster” (School Library Journal, starred review) sure to captivate fans of Adam Silvera and Mary H.K. Choi.

In Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, two boys in a border town fell in love. Now, they must discover what it means to stay in love and build a relationship in a world that seems to challenge their very existence.

Ari has spent all of high school burying who he really is, staying silent and invisible. He expected his senior year to be the same. But something in him cracked open when he fell in love with Dante, and he can’t go back. Suddenly he finds himself reaching out to new friends, standing up to bullies of all kinds, and making his voice heard. And, always, there is Dante, dreamy, witty Dante, who can get on Ari’s nerves and fill him with desire all at once.

The boys are determined to forge a path for themselves in a world that doesn’t understand them. But when Ari is faced with a shocking loss, he’ll have to fight like never before to create a life that is truthfully, joyfully his own.

Love!!!!!!!!!

This book is amazing. I read the first of the set for a college course this summer, and the second is even more brilliant.

A blessing for everyone who survived 2020.

Short version, if you listened to and loved the first book, get into this book right away! If you didn’t enjoy listening to the first book, I don’t understand you. If you haven’t heard the first book yet, GO DO THAT NOW.
This isn’t a sequel that can stand alone. The first book is vital to growing your love for these characters (and I’m so glad the author didn’t waste much space rehashing that story).
I don’t want to spoil the experience, so I can’t really say why I think this book set 1987-88 is so precious to a world that survived 2020. But I feel like the author and reader just gave my heart 15 hours of first aid. I’m so so grateful.

Amazing story and performance

When I
First heard about this sequel, I
Was worried that LMM had become too big a star to do the performance. Was so happy to find out he was narrating again. I could not imagine Ari or Dante with out his interpretation giving them life. An amazing performance again.

The story did not disappoint from beginning to end. It made me laugh and cry. It also made me think and look back. As a gay man who was a teen in 80’s a lot of this story resonated with me.

Hoping there is a 3rd book. Maybe jump ahead 10 years.

Beautifully written

A lovely story about youth, love and deep friendships.

Lin-Manuel Miranda does a superb job of narrating the story.

To fully enjoy, read the first book.

Beautiful coming of age story

Aristotle and Dante make me melancholy for my own youth and awakenings about what it means to be a child, friend, sibling, student, activist, and lover. This beautiful story is expertly performed, and I wanted to keep listening, because the author’s story and the narrator’s telling of it brought Aristotle and Dante to life.

A solid squel

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Aristotle & Dante needed a sequel, but I will say that it was a very good sequel, containing more of everything that made the first one incredible. It picks up very soon after Secrets of the Universe ends, and actually gets into some of the real life issues with being gay in the 1980s. There's more real world homophobia and the AIDS crisis and internalized homophobia, but there are also more supportive people in both their lives, and the bulk of the story isn't even really about the romance, much like that wasn't really the point of the first book. It's very central to the story, but the book is still mostly about Ari growing up and experiencing the world and accepting himself. Also, surprise parental death was a painful surprise.
