Resumen del Editor

The New York Times best-selling author of Darwin’s Doubt presents groundbreaking scientific evidence of the existence of God, based on breakthroughs in physics, cosmology, and biology.

Beginning in the late 19th century, many intellectuals began to insist that scientific knowledge conflicts with traditional theistic belief - that science and belief in God are “at war”. Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer challenges this view by examining three scientific discoveries with decidedly theistic implications. Building on the case for the intelligent design of life that he developed in Signature in the Cell and Darwin’s Doubt, Meyer demonstrates how discoveries in cosmology and physics coupled with those in biology help to establish the identity of the designing intelligence behind life and the universe.

Meyer argues that theism - with its affirmation of a transcendent, intelligent and active creator - best explains the evidence we have concerning biological and cosmological origins. Previously Meyer refrained from attempting to answer questions about “who” might have designed life. Now he provides an evidence-based answer to perhaps the ultimate mystery of the universe. In so doing, he reveals a stunning conclusion: the data support not just the existence of an intelligent designer of some kind - but the existence of a personal God.

A superb book about evidence for God!

A comprehensive book about evidence for God that unfolds gradually but thoroughly and convincingly. (If you want to cut to the chase, skip ahead to chapters 7 thru 10 and 12 thru 19.) The three scientific discoveries Meyer discusses really do demonstrate God's existence convincingly -- when all of the evidence is taken into account. Meyer consistently uses inferences to the best explanation -- not "God of the gaps" reasoning. A very excellent book, accessible to the layperson, though some scientific knowledge will be helpful.

good but long....

I really appreciate the unbiased, fair minded and logical way this book treated the subject. however, beware, it goes deep....I would have preferred (and been able to use) a 4-6 hr version of the book. this was almost too detailed and expert for me to feel like I can tell my friend about the book with any justice. all in all, glad I listened. I'm more informed and fair in my views because of it.

Good book. Dry.

Well written and thorough. One side effect is that the book shows why Western culture has prevailed over the other cultures of the world (in spite of what that titanic intellectual Jesse Jackson might think).

Incredible Convincing

If you’ve been on the fence, agnostic based on what you believe Science has discovered about the possibility of God existing. Read this.

Makes complicated science much more understandable

Prior generations of scientists like Newton, would invoke God as part of their theories to explain those things are were too mysterious. In the post Darwin era, it became unfashionable at the least and weak minded to many to pose that God has a role. Meyer takes a deep dive into modern science and explores the dilemma of a moment of creation. He then artful demolishes the complicated alternatives some scientists have posited to explain or eliminate origins. The book can be a bit repetitive as Meyer works through long arguments to drive home his point. But at the end your journey you are likely to find little if any conflict in support of an intelligent designer who created the universe and biblical model. Brilliant scholarship made accessible to as readers with an interest (but little education) in the sciences.

The final nail in naturalism coffin

Excllent conclusion to Meyers Trilogy of books. Meyers create an excellent case for a theistic universe and the intelligent creation of life.

As If I Were Listening to a Textbook

No offense intended to the author. His book is rife with citations, references and quotations. Mr. Meyer has done his homework here. The problem is, for me, that the story isn't interesting because it is so bogged-down with justifications. I am not really interested in proving his dissertation and will gladly defer to his qualifications within this community. I tuned in to be told a story and found it lacking. Eric Metaxas also takes a crack at this subject and managed to hold my interest.

If my intention were to prove this subject to someone else, Return of the God Hypothesis would be my go-to source for research. The problem is that I was hoping to listen to an interesting book, not do research. As they say, it's not you - it's me.

Heady and Thoughtful

Deep and thoughtful review of the current atheistic materialism that fills our scientific and popular culture. Scientifically and mathematically sound reasoning for a theistic view of the beginning of our universe.

Technical but but very well argued

I have read some of the usual suspect authors in popular physics, Green, Carroll, Ravoilli, Hawking and a few others. I am admittedly an ignorant non-scientist. However even my poor brain has been able to deduce that the popularization of this subject has lead the public to believe an infinite Multiverse is not only possible but probable. That we are the result of Quantum fluctuations and Universal Wave Function collapse not the creation of a Creator.
The God Hypothesis breaks this argument down in scientific and rational terms and analysis exposing it and the “scientists” that promote it as deeply problematic. It can be a daunting read but I found it worth it. Believe in God, don’t believe in God this is a good read on the subject for anyone who has an interest in science.
