Story
When the black rain began to fall, it was a worldwide phenomenon that mystified everyone. There was little time to ponder the cause. Most animals died at the onset. While some humans were unaffected, others experienced a half-death of sorts, morphing into blood and flesh-crazed creatures with a desire to hunt the living. Climbing Fox Wattana of the Henomawi Nation claims responsibility for the black rain; he says it will will ensure the ultimate extinction of the United States government as revenge for robbing his people of their land. Cole "CB" Baxter isn't taking this lying down.

Publisher's summary
The complete 8-book zombie apocalypse series, Dead South, is now available!
The Dead Can't Bury the Truth...
Three years after an incurable virus spread and turned a majority of the population into mindless and cannibalistic creatures, the world is a barren place. Society is broken, and most who remain have banded together in small camps and communities.
Jon South is not like most other survivors.
After losing his wife and son nearly two years into the pandemic, Jon now wanders the country roads and woods of rural Tennessee, a vigilante taking his revenge out on the undead monsters that took his family from him. He lives in solitary, and with nothing more to live for, he plans to die alone, sooner rather than later.
But after coming to the aid of a pair of strangers out in the woods being attacked by men, Jon learns that he might have been fighting the wrong monsters the entire time.

Will Kessler works a dead-end warehouse job in Tennessee, driving a forklift and unloading shipping containers. When he wakes up from a nap during his lunch break, he finds most of his co-workers have mutated into monsters, and they have turned the 50,000 square foot building into a war zone, murdering any other survivors. Alone and weaponless, Will must fight through the undead horde to secure the building and answer one question: Is he truly alone?

When the black rain began to fall, it was a worldwide phenomenon that mystified everyone. There was little time to ponder the cause. Most animals died at the onset. While some humans were unaffected, others experienced a half-death of sorts, morphing into blood and flesh-crazed creatures with a desire to hunt the living. Climbing Fox Wattana of the Henomawi Nation claims responsibility for the black rain; he says it will will ensure the ultimate extinction of the United States government as revenge for robbing his people of their land. Middle Eastern terrorist squads were infected with a virus engineered to strike at the heart of the Western world in the name of Islam and the Holy Jihad. When the virus mutated without warning, the infection took on a dimension and scale beyond any rational explanation. Spreading across the globe like wildfire, it left millions dead in its wake. I Loved This Series!
This was my first journey into Bohannon’s post-apocalyptic world and I thoroughly enjoyed it! This audiobook collection starts fast and keeps the high-pace throughout. The narrator for the story perfectly (I listened at 1.2 speed and it sounded natural), covering male and female roles with ease. Zombies, a likable yet rough around the edges MC, and a diverse cast of characters added dimension to this series that’s sadly missing in so many others these days. A great listen/read!

Decent enough
I’ve read all the post apocalyptic zombie movies that have shown up on here; this was is ok… predictable. The author thinks about developing the characters but then draws back. Most characters are very shallow but overall, entertaining. Just don’t expect anything new.

Sounds like 10th grade creative writing assignment
I’ve paid for it so I’ll finish it, but it’s seriously not good. The main character is pathetic when compared to other similar stories. And the overt and juvenile use of gore to express what’s happening gets old fast. Overall it’s ok if you are into this sort of thing. But I wouldn’t buy again if I could go back.

There was no character building
Every character had vary little depth and we didn’t really get to know any of them I couldn’t care less if anyone in the book died and the time line felt screwy

would not recommend!
sorry will not elaborate on books that the author did not take their time to actually write a book. MC always feeling sorry for himself and tough guy attitude that breaks the second someone tests it really sad. also so many pointless kidnapping and torture for questions that not one person would ever try and keep secret let alone be tortured for the information really. started off slow and never got better. do not waste a credit even for all of these books not worth it.

Well established characters and realistic human behaviors good and bad.
As a zombie story aficionado, I consume everything zombie and apocalypse related, and this story does not disappoint. All books are well written. The characters are well-developed and the human behavior the way people go crazy and crazy times, and the way people come together and crazy times is actually really not too far out there from what I’ve seen in a few Third World countries while in service.

Great FU**ING Series
This book series was amazing from start to finish. I’m giving it a 4.5 only because I hated how Brook started out so strong but ended up being weak and depressing. I understand the issues she went through but damn keep the lady strong and Bad Ass. But overall this rocked. An amazing read.
