En este libro, que abarca desde los caníbales de Atapuerca hasta el talante del presidente Zapatero, no he pretendido escribir la historia que escribiría el pueblo, ya que el pueblo es ágrafo por naturaleza, sino, más bien, una historia de España contada para escépticos que no creen en la historia de España. No pretendo que sea veraz, justa y desapasionada, porque ninguna historia lo es, pero por lo menos intentaré que no mienta ni tergiverse a sabiendas, que ya es un propósito sobradamente ambicioso en los tiempos que corren. Además procuraré que sea amena y documentada (pero el escéptico sabe que los documentos también se manipulan en el instante mismo en que nacen) y si el lector aprende algo de ella me daré por bien pagado.

La voz es un suplicio
Que desangelado narrador. Yo soy de México. Hay veces q no me agrada la narración con acento español, especialmente para traducciones del inglés o del chino, por aquella afanada y lamentable traducción literal de “Lucas Trota Cielos”. Pero para este libro en particular, me hubiera encantado escuchar una voz española. Por el contrario, metieron a Eduardo Wasveiler, un Venezolano radicado en Miami que da una flojera absoluta. Le resta toda intención al texto. Lamentable. Voy a seguir con el libro porque es interesante. Pero la experiencia está siendo negativa. No me está revelando nada, despertando nada, causando emoción alguna. Muy por debajo de mi expectativa y de las conferencias que he escuchado del autor.
