This novel is the tale of Stanley Dabernath, zombie. Despite his ghoulish appearance, Stanley finds himself living the dream. But in many ways, it’s harder to be a celebrity than a zombie. The suits behind Project Second Chance want to tell him how to behave in public. There’s constant pressure coming at him from all sides—not to mention that many people consider him a vile blasphemy.

Rusty Moss has raised his niece Mia since she was a baby. Now that she's almost 18, he's worried that the life he's given her - living off the grid in a cabin deep in the woods - is holding her back from her full potential. But that angst gets pushed aside when the undead forest animals arrive. At first it's just a squirrel - shockingly violent and almost impossible to kill. Followed by a grizzly bear, also aggressive and resilient, even when point-blank shotgun blasts to the face are involved.

Publisher's summary
Wilderness Survival Tip Number 1: Drinking your own sweat will not save your life. Somebody might have told you that, but they were trying to find out if you'd really do it.
Henry Lambert would rather play video games than spend time in the great outdoors - but that doesn't make him a wuss. Skinny nerd? Fine. But wuss is a little harsh. Sadly, his dad doesn't agree. Which is why Henry is being shipped off to Strongwoods Survival Camp. Strongwoods isn't exactly as advertised. It looks like the victim of a zombie apocalypse, the "camp director" is a psycho drill sergeant, and Henry's sure he saw a sign written in blood...
Wilderness Survival Tip Number 2: In case of an avalanche, don't despair. You're doomed, but that's a wicked cool death. Wilderness Survival Tip Number 3: If you're relying on this audiobook for actual survival tips, you're dead already.

I've Reread this and still love it.
I read this in middle school yet I still enjoy it now in high school. It has a little bit for everyone and the humor is outstanding. One of my favorites, only wish it was longer. 😅

great read!
I love this author. his books have the psychological Thriller style I like with the smart ass narrator and thinking of the main character. I was laughing half the time so funny I love all the innuendos and inside jokes it was great I read it all in one day.

Entertaining
This is a truly entertaining and funny book. Pretty sure I knew some of these kids when I was young. Strand drops in random, yet perfect little details about awkward teens. I run when I listen to books and I laughed out loud throughout this story and got in extra miles so I could hear more. Aaron Landon is an excellent reader. Wolf Hunt was also fun and I look forward to WH 2 and his other works.

Should have bought sooner
I had this book in my wishlist for quite a while but never bought it because it was categorized as YA. I should not have paid any attention to that categorization. The main characters are young teenagers, but this book didn't feel like a YA book to me. It was hilarious, it was fun, and it sucks you in quickly. I finished in less than a day. The narrator was an excellent choice and did a great job. While I was already a Jeff Stand fan, this book delivered even more than i had hoped. A highly recommended fast and fun read.

Another great from Jeff Strand
Jeff Strand always has me laughing out loud. I get some odd looks, but it can’t be helped. The characters were great and the story was funny. I loved the in between chapters with the advice the best!

Don't waste your time
Not his best work. It wasn't even entertaining enough to keep me interested. I kept catching myself zone out but wasn't upset that I missed a part.
