Historia
Few basketball dynasties have reigned supreme like the UCLA Bruins did over college basketball from 1965-1975. At the center of this legendary franchise were the now-iconic players Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Bill Walton, naturally reserved personalities who became outspoken giants when it came to race and the Vietnam War. These generational talents were led by John Wooden, a conservative counterweight to his star players whose leadership skills would transcend the game after his retirement. But before the three of them became history, they would have to make it—together.

For far too long the mythology of Indiana basketball has been dominated by Hoosiers. Framed as the ultimate underdog, feel-good story, there has also long been a cultural debate surrounding the film. The Real Hoosiers sets out to illuminate the narrative that the film omits, the story of the unheralded Crispus Attucks Tigers, playing the game at the highest level in the 1950s in a racially divided Indiana.

The 1980s were a transformative decade for the NBA. The 1987–88 season was the peak of that golden era, a year of incredible drama that featured a pantheon of superstars in their prime. In When the Game Was War, bestselling author Rich Cohen tells the story of this incredible season through the four teams, and the four players, who dominated it: Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics, Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers, Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons, and a young Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls.

Pete Rose is a legend. A baseball god. He compiled more hits than anyone in the history of baseball, a record he set decades ago, which still stands. At the same time, he was a working-class white guy from Cincinnati who made it; less talented than tough, and rough around the edges. He was everything that America wanted and needed him to be, the American dream personified, until he wasn’t. Charlie Hustle tells the full story of one of America’s most epic tragedies, the rise and fall of Pete Rose, one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

March 28, 1992. The final of the NCAA East Regional, Duke vs. Kentucky. Millions could say they witnessed the greatest game and the greatest shot in the history of college basketball. But it wasn't just the final play - an 80-foot inbounds pass with 2.1 seconds left in overtime - that made Duke's 104-103 victory so memorable. Each player and coach arrived at that point with a unique story to tell. In The Last Great Game, ESPN columnist Gene Wojciechowski turns the game we think we remember into a drama filled with suspense, humor, revelations, and reverberations.

Historia
At basketball-crazy Durfee High School in Fall River, Massachusetts, junior guard Chris Herren carried his family’s and the city’s dreams on his skinny frame. His grandfather, father, and older brother had created their own sports legends in a declining city; he was the last, best hope for a career beyond the shuttered mills and factories. Herren was heavily recruited by major universities, chosen as a McDonald’s All-American, featured in a Sports Illustrated cover story, and at just seventeen years old became the central figure in Fall River Dreams, an acclaimed book about the 1994 Durfee team’s quest for the state championship.

John Feinstein has already taken listeners into the inner circles of top college basketball programs in The Legends Club. This time, Feinstein pulls back the curtain on college basketball's lesser-known Cinderella stories - the smaller programs who no one expects to win, who have no chance of attracting the most coveted high school recruits, who rarely send their players on to the NBA. Feinstein follows a handful of players, coaches, and schools who dream, not of winning the NCAA tournament but of making it past their first or second round games.

Pistol is more than the biography of a ballplayer. It's the stuff of classic novels: the story of a boy transformed by his father's dream and the cost of that dream. Even as Pete Maravich became Pistol Pete, a basketball icon for baby boomers, all the Maraviches paid a price. Now acclaimed author Mark Kriegel has brilliantly captured the saga of an American family: its rise, its apparent ruin, and, finally, its redemption.

From the mid-1980s into the early 1990s, the greatest athlete of all time streaked across American sports and popular culture. Stadiums struggled to contain him. Clocks failed to capture his speed. His strength was legendary. His power unmatched. Video game makers turned him into an invincible character—and they were dead-on. He climbed (and walked across) walls, splintered baseball bats over his knee, turned oncoming tacklers into ground meat.

Great NBA biography

Resumen del Editor
A powerful memoir from the University of Kentucky basketball legend, NBA veteran, and social media influencer about his recovery from addiction.
He is considered by many the greatest basketball player ever produced by the hoops-crazy state of Kentucky. In two years at the University of Kentucky, he scored over 1,000 points, led the Wildcats to a Sweet Sixteen appearance and was nicknamed “King Rex.” The first player ever drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, he spent twelve seasons in the NBA, dazzling in dunk contests and sinking one of the most memorable buzzer-beaters in league history. But by the end of his career, Rex Chapman was harboring a destructive secret.
Years before America’s opioid crisis would become national news, Chapman developed a dependency on Vicodin and Oxycontin, ultimately ingesting fifty painkillers a day. In addition, he developed a severe gambling addiction, once nearly losing $400,000 at a Las Vegas blackjack table. All this would cost him his family as well as most of the $40 million fortune he’d made in basketball, leaving him to live in his car and shoplift to support his addictions. Only when he was arrested—and his mugshot made national news—did he finally commit to getting clean.
In It’s Hard for Me to Live With Me, Chapman—who has amassed millions of social media followers for his relatable and uplifting posts—tells the story of his addiction and recovery in unflinching detail. With equal frankness, he describes his history with depression; the racism he witnessed growing up and how that shaped his outspokenness on matters of social justice; and his complex and volatile relationship with his father, also a former professional basketball player. Cowritten with New York Times bestselling author Seth Davis, Chapman’s memoir is an equally devastating and inspiring story about the human struggle for self-acceptance.

But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she's spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.

Every decade brings change, but as Michael MacCambridge chronicles in The Big Time, no decade in American sports history featured such convulsive cultural shifts as the 1970s. So many things happened during the decade—the move of sports into prime-time television, the beginning of athletes’ gaining a sense of autonomy for their own careers, integration becoming—at least within sports—more of the rule than the exception, and the social revolution that brought females more decisively into sports, as athletes, coaches, executives, and spectators.

Great Book
As a long time basketball fan and one who enjoys listening to inspiring books, this satisfied me on both counts. Above all I appreciated Rex’ honesty about all the mistakes he had made and his emphasis on his pride in his family, which has more or less stood with him in his dark times. His regret about not speaking out until he had nothing to lose was heart-wrenching to me.

Unbelievable!
Listening to this book is truly eye-opening. It’s hard to comprehend that most of us walking this earth really do not know what another person is experiencing in their life. Growing up in Kentucky and playing basketball, #3 was the ultimate, he could do no wrong in my eyes, and it’s heartbreaking to understand what he had to live through, however it could never make me more proud to see the battles won in the war of winning his life and his family. In the words of another great Kentuckian, Cawood Ledford keep “ playing string music” #3 in your championships of loving your family!

Everything stood out.
Only thing I personally dislike was when he chose Kentucky over Louisville being a Louisville fan. This was a great having it read from the author hisself. Great job Rex and especially when you spoke about our Owensboro Red Devils beating your Apollo eagles with Cool Li Stew hitting that last minute shot.

Awesome Book
Rex tells his story with genuineness, pain, and humor. I cried, laughed, and sat in awe of how he overcame his struggles with opioid addiction. Rex was/is worth the price of admission.

Love the honesty
I'm a lifelong Kentucky fan and Kentucky bred. I never knew the obstacles Rex went through throughout his life and I appreciate his honesty and openness to talk about it. I also agree that it's hard being a liberal living in Kentucky and the south in general. I'm a Kentucky transplant living in North Alabama now. Keep speaking up for what's right Rex and I'm proud of you for overcoming your problems and putting forth the effort to change. #BBN

What stood out for me the most is how one bad diagnose from one doctor altered Rex’s life so badly.
This is awesome story! Rex recovered from those dark demons that he held on to for so many years. Rex has always been one of my favorite players and glad to see that he turned his life around.

Rex’s story impacted me deeply
I understand much better what a friend faced. I loved watching Rex play but listening to his book was what I needed.

A Brave and Revealing Memoir
Rex Chapman is a name I have known since his senior year in high-school. Indiana fans knew how good he was. His game was fun to watch. I moved to Owensboro for a few years and the Rex playground stories were still legendary long after his playing days had ceased. I was one of those who loved the "block or charge" tweets and became a follower.
But this story is so much more than a basketball hero tale. Rex has torn the curtain away from his life to show us the scars that didn't come from the surgeon. His experiences with racism, mental health, addiction, and the blatant hypocrisy of basketball stardom is cutting. So many role models let Rex down over the years. The wonder isn't how someone with such talent ended up living in his car, the wonder is how it didn't happen sooner.
Even if you disagree with his politics, you can't listen and not respect his reasoning. Highly recommend
