Publisher's summary

Change is coming to Quest Academy. Can Sal rise to the occasion?

When the second years nearly lose their lives in a failed excursion, it's the first years that pay the price. The curriculum is being radically altered to challenge the students, which means the stakes just got a lot higher.

Salvatore's worst nightmare is taking on a demon, but if he wants to stay at Quest Academy, how will he prove to himself and everyone else that he can succeed? He's going to have to take on an entire floor of a demonic tower before the first semester comes to a close.

That's the least of Sal's problems as he navigates through his first student mission away from the school. Sal is more comfortable at the crafting table, but he needs to survive in a reclaimed zone outside of the academy with the worst team of misfits you could possibly imagine.

It's time to push the limits of Mythcrafting…

Great second book... However

Without giving any spoilers it’s a strange place to end. Could’ve easily went an extra two or three hours and wrapped up the current plot line.

Love the story

Pacing is terrible. Got two books and around 40hours long just to not be not where at all in his time at the Academy. At this pace we are going to need 6 more books just to get past year 1

Well thought out.

If you’re looking at this book from a realistic standpoint… I would probably go out of my way to give it 5 stars. Only reason I didn’t is because I’m bitter about the ending. Anyone giving this book below 4 stars shouldn’t have been reading in the first place. Obviously you’re missing the entire point of the story so there’s no point explaining.

At best this book is working with TEENAGERS that know the bare minimum of WAR. Yet they have all been told probably sense birth powers they don’t even fully know how to use make you either useless or a hero. Then to put icing on the cake even if you become a weak hero the expectation is for you to just to follow orders and die if need be.

The MC is literally one of the few TEENAGERS literally handing the situation in the best way possible. All of you saying the MC is a pushover must have not actually been listening.

Reviews are seriously missing the point

Considering what the litrpg genre is usually like, i am sadly not surprised that when a MC struggles with their resolve and identity as a Hero the masses dub him a dumb weakling rather than just being human. Sigh, this is a result of too many inept authors focusing on the spectacle of the power fantasy rather than the development of their characters. Sal isn't a psychopath who immediately realizes the full potential of his powers and proceeds to solo every enemy in his way with sheer overwhelming power. He is a scared, insecure, sheltered and somewhat spilled kid who has no idea what he is doing or even what it is he truly wants. This story is a more realistic journey for what a NORMAL person would go through in his place. I'm sorry, but if your complaining that the MC didn't immediately slap down all those who questioned or wronged him in some way, then you really don't get the point of this story at all.
All that aside i rather enjoyed the story as a whole, the author has cut back on the female sex kitten thing, the world building is interesting, the character development is intense and satisfying, and the action is fun and easy to follow. My only complaint is that i really wish we could have seen more development of the side characters, i will freely admit that i am a Divinity Stan and totally wanted to see her growth a bit more. Honestly the author is doing so well with Sal that i would hate for the side characters to get shafted in the future by the author not taking the time to flesh them out as much as he is doing with the MC. Though i understand that is a person preference. All and all it is a great book 2, i am looking forward to what comes next.

Character growth, conspiracies YEAH so good

I loved the character growth of the MC. Yes, as others mentioned, I do wish the supporting characters got a bit more “face time”. But, this sequel was really all about Sal, and he delivers! I completely disagree with other reviewers saying that he’s a “pushover”; he is not a pushover, just a person going through life and dealing with his circumstances. Sal is absolutely finding his own voice, and kicking ass in a dungeon! The reviewer who said that Sal was being chastised for using his abilities on another student (and brought to task for it), obviously did not understand the exchange nor the outcome of his actions. It’s as if people are reviewing an entire book based on listening to 1/3 -1/2 of the entirety?! Seriously?! Anyway, I obviously don’t want to give any spoilers. The narration by Daniel Wisniewski was great for the male voices. However, still not a fan of the female narrator (Rebecca Woods); I find her to be “over the top” for voicing women - they either sound whiny or too “girly”, just not the way women speak/sound.

the main character

The main character sal is a person that grow up in a sheltered area in this apocalyptic world and is afraid of the dangers out there and has to actually overcome that.

Another amazing entry! Top tier quality

This story just keeps getting better. The crafting is detailed and interesting. The MC shows a lot of growth and tests his limits. The story increased the stakes while still keeping the core elements in place. This series is an insta buy for me and is in my top 5 Litrpg. The creativity with the abilities and classes is exceptional. The Heroes in training show emotions and true struggle through the situations they’re put in. The Narration is spectacular and very pleasant. There is some real emotion put into this book.
