Publisher's summary
"I didn't realize how much I would miss grocery shopping until it was gone."
Life was pretty good. The love of Alice's life had proposed, they were proud new homeowners, and she'd just landed a great promotion at work. Things were going to plan.
Well, they were, until the Red Death struck.
Billions dead in a matter of weeks. The survivors are few and far between. No one is safe. Life will never be the same again.

After all, she’s been on a self-imposed losing streak since her survivalist parents died: she’s stopped painting, broken off her engagement to Adrian and dated a real jerk. Rectifying her mistakes has to wait, however, because Cassie and her friends have just enough time to escape Brooklyn for her parents’ cabin before Bornavirus LX turns them into zombies, too.

Mary Coles and her husband, Graham, have just moved to a cottage on the edge of a small village. The house hasn't been lived in for years, but they are drawn to its original features and surprisingly large garden, which stretches down into a beautiful apple orchard. It's idyllic, remote, picturesque: exactly what they need to put the horror of the past behind them.

Story
The body that turns up in Bron's garden has been there for decades, and he died of natural causes. Just rebury him and carry on as normal, right? But it's kinda hard to be normal when the ghost of the dead man has been disturbed, and now he want...well, just what does he want? It's down to Bron, a traditional hedge witch, to find out. If she doesn't, that ghost is going to be lingering in corners and upsetting kitchen chairs for the rest of her life. Creepy, tedious, and noisy, all at the same time.

Emma has a job in television which is distinctly less glamourous and exciting than it sounds. She's managed to claw her way up the ranks from Tea Maker and Rubbish Collector to Second Assistant Director (heavy on the assistant. Even heavier on the second.). So when she finds she's accidentally very pregnant and at the same time accidentally very sacked (well, less accidentally: she did tell her boss to stick his job up his bum), she knows things are going to have to change.

Okay to pass the time
This book wasn’t what I thought it would be. It’s very slow paced. The characters, story, and narrator were okay though. The ending alluded to a possible book 2 but unfortunately this book didn’t setup enough interest or action that makes me anticipate another book.

Not a lot hapens
This is an interesting book with not a lot of action or tension. Only one scene of potential violence. It feels very real, but I also got a little bored and just as it seems they might add some strife and tension to the story, it ends. Apparently this is to be one of a series, but I always hate books that end on a cliffhanger and you have to wait months or longer to read the next chapter.

Couldn't put it down
I loved this book. I really did. I think the publishers description/Summery is accurate. I like that it is in Australia as most of the apococolypse books I have found are based in USA, or Britain. I really loved the concept and really everything about it. Listened to it within two days. Just couldn't stop. I wish there was a second book.

The Main Character is Annoying
I was very annoyed by the characters complete ignorance! They don’t mask up and they don’t social distance, They don’t realize they can syphon gas. They are just so unprepared and dense.

COVID before it was announced
I really enjoyed the story line. The difference in people who prep, who are preppers and those who are neither and the reaction and responses as a result. I am really impressed by the fact that this was released when COVID was 1st announced, therefore written way previously.

It was a good setup…but…
I know everyone has to write series now instead of just one book. It’s annoying but that’s life. This book felt like maybe half of one book. So in other words, it was waaaay too long for what we got. Nothing much happens after the pandemic hits. They just sort of live and talk about future living. There was too much lamenting of their situation and many unnecessary things thrown in there, like a dog being lost in some bushes for a little while. I grew weary. I’m not at all curious as to what happens next.
