The only thing better than having nearly one million titles to choose from is having a personal expert who can quickly and easily suggest one that’s right for you. Beginning today, Audible is rolling out a beta test of Maven, a new AI-powered search feature that responds to natural language used in everyday, conversational speech to find matches from our catalog, making it easier than ever for customers to find their next favorite listen.

As its name suggests, Maven is an expert at surfacing specific recommendations tailored to listeners’ unique tastes and preferences. For example, customers can say, “I’m looking for an uplifting fiction novel with a female protagonist,” or “show me fantasy audiobooks that I can complete on an 8-hour road trip.”

“As the go-to destination for audiobook discovery, Audible is always innovating to make it easier for you to find your next favorite listen,” said Andy Tsao, Audible’s Chief Product and Analytics Officer. “With Maven, we’re introducing an AI-powered search feature to help listeners uncover hidden gems across our vast catalog, even for their most specific requests. And this is just the beginning—we’re going to continuously improve this feature to ensure our users always have the best possible book recommendations at their fingertips."

Audible is also leveraging AI to present customers with easily scannable “reviews at a glance” to further empower them to find a great listen, and is currently testing AI-curated collections of titles that offer laser-focused expertise on niche topics, so listeners can immerse themselves in highly specific subjects.

At Audible, we’re continuously innovating using emerging technology to improve our search and discovery experience. Customers using Maven should keep in mind that this feature is still new—and we are excited to evolve and improve the product based on their feedback and the latest technology. While in beta, Maven will reach fifty percent of US customers across all membership plans and will search a subset of the catalog as we learn more about customer engagement and preferences.
