Publisher's summary

Isolated by the dark secrets he carries, Grant Wilkinson, the damaged and decorated war hero, has always seen himself as a monster. He's finally getting his life on track by embracing the help he needs from Renata Koreman, the equally damaged little mouse.

André Chevalier saw Grant and Renata’s ragged edges as puzzle pieces that would fit flawlessly together. He made the right decision when he put the Monster and the Mouse together.

There’s just one problem: Did Grant murder his father?

Fictional therapy

This book is helping me understand child
hood abuse better. It is a combination of fairytale graphic sex and a sensitive rendition of childhood sexual trauma. Reading it has opened my mind to a better understanding of how a sexual surrogate could enhance a conflicted individual to a better understanding of his/her sexual frustrations and resolutions.

Loved listening to this!

Renata and Grant are on the way to Dallas..... I will not go into the detail about the "therapy sessions", except to assure you that they are indeed earth shattering smexy. Andre' certainly knew what he was doing when he put the "little mouse" together with the "monster." It surely seems that as Renata helped Grant, she too learned some things.... but, it's not exactly happily ever after. Not by a long shot. Do you remember that frantic phone call Grant got from his mother? ( at the end of "Abuse") Well, they did exhumed Chester Wilkinson's body, and after testing, his death is now being called a murder, and guess who the prime suspect is? ... long buried secrets will come to light. this could be bad, very bad....
Listening to this after having read it was quite an enjoyable experience. I just can’t over how different It is to have someone tell you their story.

lessons for life

yes, this had incredible sex scenes and adult overtones.... but I also see it as a self help book for those who experienced abuse and neglect #selfhelp #abusevictim #adultseries #adultthemes #romance

Exciting continuation of the Grant & Renata saga.

Accuse is the second book in this series featuring Grant and Renata, and it picks up immediately after the end of the first book, Abuse. The author does a good job establishing some of the background for these characters, but I think the book is more enjoyable as part of the series. In the first book, we watched the soul shattering events of both Grant and Renata's childhoods as well as the measures each took to survive such betrayal and abuse. In this second book, we watch Grant and Renata open up to each other through games of Truth or Dare, sexual experimentation and living together daily in the same house. I already greatly admired both of these characters for the strength to survive and cope with their past abuse, but I became even more enamored of each watching them find the courage to open up to a lover in a way that makes each completely vulnerable to the other. I feel almost privileged to watch their journey to loving each other fully emotionally, physically and sexually. The book has some extremely explicit and passionate love scenes, but I though each scene was beautifully written and perfectly illustrated this couple's growth as individuals and as a couple.

Sprinkled throughout this romantic story are chapters involving the investigation of the murder of Grant's father, leading to much strife for Grant and Renata. The author uses excellent foreshadowing to move the murder mystery along, and I especially enjoyed her portrayal of the detective assigned to the case. He is an intelligent, respectful man, equally dedicated to his job and to his family. Even this hardened police detective cannot resist the charms of Andre Chevalier, and one of my favorite parts of the entire book is when Andre advises the detective how to save his marriage with a carefully planned seduction of his wife. The book ends on a cliff-hanger with the mystery portion of the story, and I have already downloaded the third and final book in the series. I simply do not want to wait for the exciting conclusion and, hopefully, the answer to the question - who killed Grant's father?

Roberto Scarlato's narration is fantastic. He narrates all the books in the series, and he is the perfect choice for Grant's overall strong, alpha-male personality. His portrayal of Andre's French accent is sex personified, and he handles Renata's light, feminine voice with equal skill.

Deeper into Grant’s Story

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

Grant’s history was still foggy when I left him in book one. He and Renata are continuing to heal using André’s sexual therapy but when questions arise over the death of Grant’s father, secrets erupt that could damage everything. A great story.

Roberto Scarlato is fabulous.

Two Thumbs Up!

A plot twisting story

Grant and Renata are slowly helping each other heal. The past abuse still plays a huge role in their lives, but it is so touching to watch them work through it, together. They fit perfectly together. Where one is weak, the other is strong. They completely understand each other. I love Grant and Renata together. But once again, the road is not smooth. Grant is accused of killing his father. The twists and turns become intense. I found myself holding my breath and I certainly could not stop listening. I had to immediately jump into the last book in the series.

Robert Scarlato consistantly narrates André in a swoon worthy manner. Robert is able to narrate every emotion, fear and attitude Grant has and bring him to life. So many times, I felt as if I was right there witnessing the struggles. Renata is just as intricate of a character as Grant. Robert narrates her just as I imagined her. Mr. Scarlato's narration enhanced the story experience.

Book 1 was a tough act to follow, book 2 delivered

OK, so, if you haven't read book one, you really need to read it first, there's lots of information in it that adds context and history to what happens in this book.

Assuming that you have ready book one then you already know that this series deals with abuse of minors. This is challenging subject matter that can be disturbing to read for anyone, but Nikki does a fantastic job of showing the damaging results but also the possibility of healing. There is something utterly compelling in the way this book dives in, and yet does so with grace and respect.

The developing relationship between Grant and Renata is both beautiful and fascinating. Both of them are learning and healing and doing so in a way that is bringing them together.

The story has twists that I did not see coming and it held my attention from the first word to the last. I can't wait to get me hands on book 3.

The narration is very well done, the character voices are excellent and the tensions and desires in the story come across really well.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.
