Publisher's summary

"Robbed of all sense and co-ordination, I seem to hang there, in his grip. Staring. His eyes scan me, cruising over my face, then downwards, and his expression is amused, certainly, but also disturbingly analytical. After what I did, and what I felt back there in the cloakroom, I feel connected to him, intimately, but clearly all he feels for me is mild interest and curiosity. Or is it?"

When reformed bad girl Maria Lewis takes a dull job in local government back in her home town, the quiet life she was looking for is quickly disrupted by the enigmatic presence of her boss, Director Robert Stone. A dangerous and unlikely object of lust, Stone touches something deep in Maria's sensual psyche and draws her to an erotic underworld, a far cry from life in the dusty offices of Borough Hall.

Hot and sweet

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

A lot of hot sex and a sweet story to connect it all.

Have you listened to any of Petra Kollander’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is the first time. She's got a great dry tone that suits this story. Very pleased with the narrating!

Clever Bobby!!!

I wasn't really sure about choosing this book until I read a review that mentioned that the main character of this book - Robert Stone (or Clever Bobby to his friends) was written with the character of Robert Goren (Law & Order Criminal Intent) in mind. Right I thought - I can put a face to Mr Stone's character and from there this book took on a life of its own.

The story centres around Borough Hall Director of Finance - Robert Stone and new employee Maria Lewis. Robert is a big man, tall and stocky, middle aged, greying at the temples and with a very dry and illicit sense of humor. He is dominent, issues very kinky challenges and enjoys taking risks; risks he enjoys even more when they involve our young Maria.

As with Suite Seventeen and In Too Deep, Portia Da Costa has written these books in the first person. They all involve the Waverley Grand, Saskia, Borough Hall and Greg the IT Geek. Reading them is like touching base with your kinky old friends.

Yes the book does involve diverse sexual activities and some language that may offend. But it is romantic, funny and does have a happily ever after.

The narration by Petra Kollander is excellent.

Not really that entertaining.

What did you like best about Entertaining Mr Stone? What did you like least?

The storyline was titillating - which made me purchase it; but the female character was not endearing at ALL. I was more into Mr. Stone than the female character. She was just flat.

Would you ever listen to anything by Portia Da Costa again?

No.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Petra Kollander?

I really became annoyed at her voice for the female character when she was talking to others. It was a little girl, whiny voice.. ANNOYING!

What would have made this romance irresistible?

No idea. It was a good concept for a storyline; the male characters, especially Stone, were interesting - although the friend, Greg, was like a throwaway, oh-by-the-way, here's this kid that also wants to get in her pants, character.. whoopee; the female characters were, well, stupid. More depth? This seemed like a "I have an afternoon to while away writing a book and I'll just dash off this little something that may or may not happen in a workplace and make the female character as horny as possible"

A little Entertaining

Any additional comments?

This book was slightly entertaining only. Not Portia Da Costa best work. lots of sex but the storyline wasn't satisfying. Oh well it hasn't put me of reading to more of her work so i guess ill keep an eye out for any of her new books.

Is there a story here?

Lots of one-on-one sex. The story line is very weak and the characters are not very believable. The only reason I was able to finish listening was because it was short. This is likely to be my last book by this author.

Pretty hot

I enjoyed the playful nature of the book and the narrator was spot on. While it wasn't as hard core as it could have been, it was still a bit more 'exey' than a romance novel. It was a story, human foibles come into (or is that 'out to'?) play, but it wasn't mean spirited. I doubt this book would have been nearly as enjoyable without Ms Kollander's sparkling performance.

Average

This is a decent story, but nothing really special. The character development was somewhat better than most for at least attempting to explore several different characters. But it seems as though the author can't quite decide on the essence of who the principal characters really are. Both the heroine and the hero are complete flip flops to some degree with the heroine flopping the most. In the end, the hero turns out to be much less than we bargained for. While the heroine appears to be still finding her way.

Love Love Loved it!

Listening to this whole audio book drove me crazy! I wanted to be Maria so much! At times, I felt I was her and on a few ocassions she made me feel quite normal to be me! Portia Da Costa writes like she's been there and I loved it! Kinda tough to listen to this while in work pretending not to be aroused! Characters were great, obviously this could only happen in fiction- but a girl can dream and when she does, Portia Da Costa writes it all down!

Humorous, Sexy & Fun - Great read for this genre

Where does Entertaining Mr Stone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Oh, I have so many favorites...this is in the "I'll definitely listen to again (and again) group."

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maria-she is hilarious, although Mr. Stone had great moments too

What does Petra Kollander bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accent! Fantastic job

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was put off by the hotel seen near the end of the book...could have done without it as it grossed me out.

Any additional comments?

While the story is lighthearted, this is a graphic, sexual book with strong language - reader beware if this isn't your cup of tea.
