About this listen

An enemies-to-lovers lesbian romance about sexy, smart doctors cutting to the heart of what matters.

Skilled surgeon Veronica Mallick runs her London hospital department like she runs her surgeries: with hawkish efficiency. Then her perfect world is turned upside down by the arrival of a new Head of Trauma.

Cassie Taylor is a brash, no-nonsense army surgeon, fresh from the front lines, and trying to find her way in civilian life. She's all action and sharp edges, not too interested in rules. She's even less interested in bureaucracy, or playing nice with her uptight, paper-pushing colleague, Veronica.

While they're circling each other warily at St. Sophia's hospital, Cassie becomes entangled in some shady financial dealings. Their shared search for the truth draws them closer together, sparking heated moments as they try to see justice done. But in exposing a scandal, can they also find some common ground? How will they both deal with being attracted to a woman they don't even like?

Good, but not exceptional.

No real heat between the two characters unlike the authors other books. Wished for more from these two and the stories around them.

For this Genre this is a very English book

Not saying it was not a great book, it was, just it took sometimes to get used to the flow of the book. Loved the characters, loved the plot, would have liked to hear about the relationship with the son for example. Some things went missing.... but all in all it was a good book
Narration was fitting.

Fun London medical romance

A British surgeon slow burn. Major Surgery is a lovely story with an authentic hospital feel.

A slow burn medical lesbian romance.. very English too. You'll love it.

I had a very specific reason for listening to this book and Lola Keeley did not disappoint.
She dished out a lot more than I was expecting, 🤭 even managed to get a few too many chackles from me.
Great story. Realistic NHS hospital feel, well researched medical terms and references.
Loved it from start to end.
The slow burn romance between the MCs was cute even.. though a bit more intimacy wouldn't have hurt.

Narration, I have a thing for the British accent. I however couldn't help but notice that the characters almost sounded the same, irrespective of their sex.
At some point, I lost track of weather it was Cassie or Veronica speaking.
The men sounded like the ladies too. Is it a British thing???
I think Gabrielle could have done a better job here.

Get this book gays. You'll love it anyway.

As sterile as the surgical field it's set in

I have read my fair share of lesbian romance and even lesbian medical romance. This book did not live up to the expectation. The story itself was promising and started off cute but there was absolutely no chemistry portrayed between these two characters. The novel was so short it didn't even allow time for chemistry to develop. This story felt rushed from the start and left me quite disappointed. The narration was just as bad as the story. The narrator sounded mechanical and robotic. It was hard to get into any romance when the narrator sounded as if she was reading from a dry medical journal. I've read better.
