Publisher's summary

Want, need, pain, and joy were emotions Shade had never known existed before Lily. He knew the first time he saw her face that she was going to change his life forever. The thing he hadn't expected was how hard it would be to hide who and what he was from her. Each step he took out of the shadows revealed more of himself until only one secret remained. Shade arrogantly believed he could help heal the wounds from her past, but now it was his own past that was trying to tear them apart. To keep Lily, Shade would have to use the very skills he had been trying to hide from her. The skills that made him a killer...a soulless monster.

Worst narrator

Love Shade, but this narrator ruined it. Listen with caution. Makes him a wimp. he’s not.

LOVE THE DEPTH, EMOTION, PAIN, SORROW . . .

I LOVED THIS ONE DESPITE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS . . .

What many found to be a fault gave me reason to love it more and more. I loved that this started at the end and took up back to the beginning. Shade was who he was because of just life. He never appeared to be more or less. He was.

I loved this read because it took us through all of the previous books and gave us what Shade saw and his thoughts to it all. We see that he was more than the stern, no nonsense, bad ass with a chip the size of Texas. He was a man that had a small defect. He showed love, respect, and loyalty to his brothers and did not see it as love or emotion. His lack of allowed for him to be more. He found that one person that would be the key to everything to him.

For me this was a great love story even if she had no idea that he loved her so much for years. Theirs was slow and evolving. He made a commitment to her without her even knowing. He gave pleasure to other but took none for himself while with them. This side of things allowed for you to see further in to the world that Begley had created for the Last Riders. I will follow this one much much further.

Narrator Carly Robins was not the narrator that I was accustom to for this series, but she did a good job. I was pulled in just as much as with the other author. She gave Shade's narration a different feel. I loved the richness she provided and the continuity of bringing voice to the various characters from all the books that proceeded Shade.

I bought my own copy (10/8/2017)

***I've read this again and at a slower pace. I took my time. I went though each section with new eyes and new emotions. Shade's side of things brought out the sorrow, revenge, vengeance, depth, emotions, pain that went along with his life. We get more. It's ashamed that more can't accept the gift that had been given. The work and effort it took to craft such a beautiful read that spanned years. Shade's love for Lily was life changing and moving. This man bared his soul for the one woman that would mean more than life to him.

I don't even have words for this! OMG!!! LOVE!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have loved this whole series and this one has to be the BEST!!! I can't even explain how wonderful this was. I know some don't like it cause it does spend a lot of time kind of recapping the previous books - BUT - it answers a lot of questions and show Shade's side of the story.

I don't want to give any **spoilers** BUT I must warn you to have a box of tissue available when you get to about 1 hr and 45 minutes left. All I can say is OMG!!!

Which character – as performed by Carly Robins – was your favorite?

Not my favorite narrator - there are so many others that would have been better. But the story was so good I over looked the not so great narration.
