Acerca de esta escucha
Liselle never meant to fall in love. When she accompanied her archaeologist husband on a dig in Mexico, she didn't expect to meet Charlie, a talented, fiercely intelligent painter who sees her in a way that her husband never has. After their brief but intense affair shocks her into living again, Liselle travels to a remote village on the west coast of Ireland. She gradually becomes acquainted with some of the locals, whose wholehearted charm and colorful stories revive her spirits and inspire her to make a documentary about their interwoven tales of romance. Liselle comes to confront her own tumultuous past and her feelings for Charlie, the Welsh painter who rekindled her passions in Mexico, realizing that to tell the stories of others, she must first reveal her own.

Historia
On a lake in northernmost Minnesota, you might find Naledi Lodge - only two cabins still standing, its pathways now trodden mostly by memories. And there you might meet Meg, or the ghost of the girl she was, growing up under her grandfather’s care in a world apart and a lifetime ago. Now an artist, Meg paints images "reflected across the mirrors of memory and water", much as the linked stories of Vacationland cast shimmering spells across distance and time.

Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. When Olivia Shaw’s mother dies, the sophisticated food editor is astonished to learn she’s inherited a centuries-old English estate—and a title to go with it. Raw with grief and reeling from the knowledge that her reserved mother hid something so momentous, Olivia leaves San Francisco and crosses the pond to unravel the mystery of a lifetime. One glance at the breathtaking Rosemere Priory and Olivia understands why the manor, magnificent even in disrepair, was the subject of her mother’s exquisite paintings. What she doesn’t understand is why her mother never mentioned it.

Any additional comments?
An interesting and unusual story about a journey of self-discovery, with the romance being secondary to this. The middle of the book dragged a bit, but it picked up again and I really enjoyed the ending. Elizabeth Klett is wonderful, as always.

a charming story!
The author was formerly unknown to me so I did not know what to expect. The story was wonderful- a blend of family, travel, romance. The reading of the story was top notch. Very expressive- portraying a whole spectrum of characters. A very enjoyable audiobook which can highly recommend.

Beautiful story
Sarah Stonich is a great writer (I have also listened to her novel These Granite Islands) and this is a very good modern romance novel. The narrator does an excellent job with the Canadian, British, and Irish accents.
