Publisher's summary
The creatures of the night revealed themselves like visitors from another planet ten years ago. All the monsters we’d been told for thousands of years were living under the bed have now come out to shake the world leaders’ hands. “God help us!” we all cheered. We wanted desperately for them to be real, and now they were. And suddenly, no one cared about the war on terror. They didn’t care about the high price of gas or the failing economy. We forgot that for thousands of years, they had been murdering people, feeding on them, and making them slaves.
Politicians saw a chance to make up for years of poor leadership and infighting. Conservatives may not like gay marriage or Roe v. Wade, but why not make the monsters citizens? After all, they were just like us, weren’t they? Maybe they’re more like politicians since they don’t have souls either. And the progressives claimed that not granting them citizenship was treating them as less than human; we shouldn’t discriminate against them based on medical conditions and birth defects they couldn’t control. But does a birth defect make you want to eat your neighbor?
These monsters want your mind, your body, and yes, the souls you seem to think don’t matter anymore.
But me? I’m out to obliterate every last one of them. They have to die for us to live. Maybe I shouldn’t enjoy killing them, but I will never stop until they are all dead or I am.
