Nearly a century has passed since the Great Disaster, the Human AI Cyborgs are thriving on Cerise under the mass network of Central AI and have now become a successful interplanetary hominid species that has started to terraform its new home and expand into other galaxies. Back on Earth, nature has reclaimed vast amounts of the hundreds of thousands of cities that were left partially intact following the Great Disaster. The hyena, chimp, and dolphin human hybrids have become successful, and their numbers have increased as they are the apex predators across the globe. The hyenas have been the most successful of the hybrids as they have reproduced at faster rates than chimps and dolphins, but they are less educated and utilize less technology that has been left behind by humans and Central AI. The hyenas have taken to the seas as competition for resources on land has increased with their population size as cackles control nearly every area of the continents on Earth that isn't defended by troops in jungles or adjacent to coastal areas. Ultimate hybrids exist and are actively hunted by all cackles, troops, and pods as they present a threat to the hybrid order, but they have been reared in remote areas, like on islands or in cities. Most of the ultimate hybrids exist as a result of the theft of non-hyena species females from troops or pods as a result of male hyena coalitions. Out of fear of death, they have taken to living in hiding and have been successful, despite making up relatively small numbers in the ecosystems that they exist in. Masha, a female hyena, was left for dead by a hunting party as multiple cackles had taken to the sea together for protein, and upon a feeding frenzy of a blue whale carcass, many were abandoned as the swarm was overtaken by a vast school of sharks. She was left for dead at sea with many of her sisters, and after fighting off days of shark attacks and watching her kin ripped to death by the unending barrage of serrated teeth, she found herself washed up on the shores of Rio. Jojo, a dominant male chimp, was marked for infanticide by his father the leader of his troop, and the patriarchy as he presented significant competition to his future power. Upon fleeing with his mother and watching her murder, he escaped from the Amazon and ended up in the second tier of the Rio underground in the Guevara Fall Out Bunker. He kidnapped Masha and educated her, and they eventually fell in love. As their second litter of ultimate hybrids was being born, they were hunted down by a male coalition of hyenas forced into the city out of necessity, and to save his family, Jojo sacrificed himself and powered on the city as Masha went into labor. Central AI the incidence from Earth as its systems had been rebooted and other major cities around the planet began to be powered back on; probes had immediately been sent from Cerise and to other parts of the universe to investigate Earth's condition. DW Malware, created by MK, secretly began to crawl Central AI's network on Earth and began to train itself undetected in a virtual machine; it was humanity's last hope at living with free will, albeit hybrid free will, in a symbiotic relationship with Central AI. The human rat hybrids that had been fed, starved, and selected were automatically released when Rio's power was reinstated as they had been Central AI's backup plan to the initial hybrid experiment carried out by MK before the Great Disaster occurred and forced the Human AI Cyborgs to Cerise. Masha and her five ultimate hybrid offspring are attempting to escape from Rio, but many obstacles have been placed in their way. The ultimate hybrids and the DW Malware are the future of free will and speciation on Earth, but several things must occur for this to happen.
