Publisher's summary

Is he worth the heartbreak? At nearly 40, Julie isn't so sure she'll ever find a man who is, so she's vowed that all her big 4-0 decisions will have zip to do with relationships. A successful theater manager, she agrees to travel to North Carolina and help a friend put her erotic performance theater on its feet. Julie has always been curious and drawn to the BDSM world, and now she can safely explore that world in the environment she knows best.

Desmond Hayes is the roofing contractor repairing their rundown theater building, but he's also a rigger, well-known in the BDSM world for his rope artistry. He's not just a top, though; he's a Dom whose unexpected quirks mesh too well with Julie's eccentric personality and awaken her submissive side. From the time he was born, Des has been fighting the odds against him. Because of that, he's kept his relationships inside the BDSM scene, with clear boundaries. While Julie has almost given up on finding a person worth loving through better or worse - or pleasure and pain - Des never expected to receive that gift.

He's not letting that treasure get away - no matter how much rope he has to use to bind her to him.

narration can really kill a book

Liz was good at narration but when you arenused to Maxine Mitchel it kind of throws everything off. the book kind of moved fast and we didn't really get ti see the depth of some of the characters. over all the book was ok

True love

Such a wonderful and exciting read. Felt so authentic in every way. Julie is every woman, well most every woman. And Dez is so real himself. Both are a version of heartache finding their other, realizing the truth of really being the other half of a soul. It's beautiful, aspiring and a little voyeuristic.

Loved it!!!

I really loved how real this story was. It had many parallels to my life, so I was able to really connect with the characters. I love how love can grow between friends and lovers. Joey is a fabulous writer and I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

extraordinary

Could not stop listening. The author tied me to the characters in a binding as strong as those Desmond wove. A new favorite.

new narrator ( not my fav)

After having Maxine narrate all the previous books. I didn't really care for Liz T. . Her character's voices were ok but the general narration lacked richness, at times very flat. Even her Desmond characterization didn't evoke the passion that the word were saying he felt. This is not a book I'd listen to over and over again.

So true to life that and believable

I am always excited to see a book that addresses a main character who has an issue that is realistic. The baggage and angst attached to the issue is dealt with in believable and engaging ways. The community and individual relationships explored are so well done this books as an adventure I will listen to again. Liz Thomson did a wonderful job of bringing the emotion and life to the characters that is magical. Once again Joey W. Hill has added a great work to their series Nature of Desire. I have listened to them in order thus far and would suggest that order but also believe that they could be read as standalone novels.

Love, BDSM and Diabetes

Listened to audio narrated by Liz Thomson. An enjoyable listen with good pacing.

Desmond Hayes is a roofing contractor, a rigger and a Dom. He has spent his life struggling with severe health problems and Diabetes and has used that to keep any relationship from getting too involved.

Julie Ramirez is a theater manager who decided to help her friend with her erotic performance community theater. She's been drawn to the BDSM world but never did much until she meets Desmond.

This book themes include BDSM play and a relationship that includes dealing with life threatening illness and how it affects not only Des but his relationship with Julie and his friends.

Diabetes is a terrible disease and I learned a lot about it from this book. Starting a new relationship is hard enough without the complication of an expected shortened lifespan. This theme sometimes overshadowed this couple's relationship. I loved the BDSM play, the steamy moments and their interaction with Thomas and Marcus. However ,the pacing felt very slow and I had a hard time keeping connecting with them the farther into the book I got.

I adore Joey W. Hill and there's a lot to enjoy in this book but it may not be for everyone.

Great story

Liz Thomson does a great job on this book and Joey Hamilton writes a great story. Worth a credit, yet.
