Though a teacher by profession, Ackeeni Bentinck always had a passion poetry. Bentinck uses poetry to express her inner thoughts, address social issues and to be the voice for the voiceless. She was born and raised in the garden city of Georgetown in Guyana. She attended the North Ruimveldt Multilateral Secondary and graduated in 2011. In September of that same year, she started college at the Cyril Potter’s College of Education and graduated as a trained teacher with an Associate Degree in Education. She is presently a teacher at a Senior Secondary in the heart of Georgetown. Apart from teaching and poetry, Bentinck loves to take part in drama and dance. She wrote a number of plays, one being ‘Faithful are the Wounds of a Friend.” which made it to the finals at the National Drama Festival 2016. Also, she graduated with a diploma from the National School of Theatre Arts and Drama in the year 2016. Bentinck is also currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of Guyana. She is both introvert and extrovert. She loves to go out and have fun, but at the same time values those moments which she spends alone in the tranquillity of her home.
