Andrew Davison is theologian at the University of Cambridge, writing on Christian doctrine, science, and philosophy. Also priest and preacher, he is widely respected for his commitment to clarity and communication, writing articles for newspapers and popular journals as well as books that have become standard works in their fields. He is the Starbridge Professor of Theology and Natural Sciences as the University of Cambridge, and a fellow of Corpus Christi College, where he is also the Dean of Chapel. He is a canon of St Albans Cathedral. Andrew's most recent books are Astrobiology and Christian Doctrine (2023) and Participation in God (2020). The former explores the significance of life beyond Earth for Christian belief, and was described in Church Times as 'a magnificently fair, informative, trustworthy, and mind-expanding work of theology, surely a modern classic in the field'. Participation in God sets out an encompassing vision of Christianity in terms of sharing in God and sharing from God. It was described in Modern Theology as ‘a magnificent gift to teachers and students of Christian theology, preachers of the faith, spiritual directors of the faithful, and specialists requiring a systematic theology of participation.’ On prayer, liturgy, and sacramental theology, his Why Sacraments? (2013) is used around the world as an introduction to that topic, while his Blessing (2014) is accessible yet also the most extensive theological treatment of the topic. His The Love of Wisdom (2013) is an introduction to philosophy for anyone interested in theology. It is widely used as a text book in the United States. Other books include collaborations: Care for the Dying, with physician Sioned Evans, For the Parish, with Alison Milbank, and the edited collection Imaginative Apologetics. Since 2010, Andrew has been working with Sarah Lenton on her acclaimed series Creative Ideas for Children's Worship. From 2022–2024 Andrew is the Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Science and Theology at the Center of Theological Inquiry, Princeton.
