Katrina Powell is Professor of English and founding director of the Center for Refugee, Migrant, and Displacement Studies at Virginia Tech. She teaches courses on rhetorics of social justice, rhetorics of human rights, and autobiography. She grew up in Madison County, Virginia, where she often hiked with her family in Shenandoah National Park.
