Peter Sykes served as a consultant surgeon for 25 years, later becoming the medical director of an NHS Trust. In 1998, he led the group that won the 'UK Medical Management Team of the Year'. During the final years of his career, he was involved at a national level in the control of quality of hospital services. He is now retired, and when not writing, spends his time with the 3 G's; Gardening, Golfing and enjoying the company of his Grandchildren (and occasionally Grumbling that 'things ain't what they used to be).
