Dr. Richard Harris is Professor Emeritus of Global Studies at California State University Monterey Bay. He has a Ph.D. in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently an independent lecturer, researcher, consultant, writer and editor. He has been a member of the faculty, visiting scholar or an administrator at various universities around the world, including California State University, University of California, Harvard University, University of Hawai'i, Cambridge College, Suffolk University, Universidad de las Americas in México, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in México City, Universidad de Chile, Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero in Argentina, University of Zambia, University of Ibadan in Nigeria, La Trobe University in Australia, University of San Francisco, and Central American Institute of Administration in Nicaragua. Richard Harris is currently the managing editor of the Journal of Developing Societies (published by SAGE Publications India) and one of the coordinating editors of Latin American Perspectives (published by SAGE Publications USA). He has published books, monographs and journal articles on a wide range of subjects, including globalization, global health, development, public administration, Latin American politics and economics, African politics and economics, economic and political development, socialism, democracy, the media, revolutionary movements, bureaucracy and organizational change. He lives on the Big Island of Hawai'i and travels extensively.
