Dr. Stephanie Y. Evans is Full Professor and former Director of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at Georgia State University. As a Professor of Black Women's Studies, she is author of three books and co-editor of five books, published through University Press of Florida, State University of New York Press, and Wayne State University Press. Before her current role at GSU, she served as department chair for twelve consecutive years. She headed Clark Atlanta University's Department of African American Studies, Africana Women's Studies, and History (AWH) and was a Director of the African American Studies Program at University of Florida. She earned a PhD in Afro-American Studies and a graduate certificate in Advanced Feminist Studies from University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Her undergraduate degree in Comparative Humanities (Interdisciplinary Studies) was earned at California State University-Long Beach where she was awarded Phi Beta Kappa honors.
