Stephen Caldwell is the author of Grow Like Jesus: Practicing Luke 2:52 Discipleship and the co-author (with Mike Thompson) of Forging Grit: A Story of Leadership Perseverance. He has served as a consulting editor or ghostwriter on more than 20 other books, mostly in the business/leadership space. His career also includes writing and editing credits in the newspaper, magazine, marketing, advertising, and training industries. Stephen's story began in the Delta of eastern Arkansas, where his family ran a weekly newspaper while he dreamed of becoming the next great American sportswriter. His writing career took many unexpected twists and turns, and a few times it crashed into some roadblocks. Along the way, he developed an approach to life and work based partly on a quote from Oswald Chambers: “Trust God and do the next thing.” As the co-owner and chief word architect of WordBuilders Communications, Stephen has a passion for helping people grow personally and professionally. He spends most of his working hours either helping clients develop and share their ideas or wrestling with his own writing projects. He began his writing career as a pre-teen when he penned articles about Little League baseball games for the weekly newspaper in Marianna, Ark. He wrote his way through college before joining the Arkansas Democrat and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as a sportswriter and columnist. Later he served as the executive editor of The Life@Work Journal. He founded WordBuilders Communications in 2008, and quickly found a niche helping thought-leaders develop and write their book ideas. He also spent four years as the director of learning experiences for SVI, before returning full-time to WordBuilders in 2015. Stephen and his wife Audrey share a blended family that includes seven children and 17 (at last count) grandchildren. They enjoy spending time together however possible, but especially when it involves travelling or spoiling their grandkids.
