With all due respect to stage and screen, there's one awards show that never fails to perk up our ears: the Audies! Honoring excellence in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment, the Audie Awards are held annually by the Audio Publishers Association (APA), which today announced its 2024 finalists. As usual, the nominations have us alternately nodding in agreement and adding way too many new listens to our TBLT list.
Among the highlights: three nominations for beloved performer Dion Graham in the Best Narrator - Nonfiction category, and three for Ann Patchett's Tom Lake, whose narrator Meryl Streep also performed Middle Grade-nominated Big Tree by Brian Selznick. We are also thrilled to share that nine of the finalists are Audible Originals or Audible Studios productions, including Third Eye (Audio Drama), Verte Regresar (Spanish Language), Six Sermons (Faith-Based Fiction), The Debutante (Original Work), Big Witch Energy (Romance), Birnam Wood (Fiction), The Ice Children (UK-Produced Audiobook), The Iliad (Literary Fiction & Classics), and Oliver Twist (Literary Fiction & Classics).
The full list of finalists follows. Winners will be announced at the Audie Awards Gala at The Avalon in Los Angeles on March 4, 2024. Congratulations to all the nominees!
