Audible Announces A New Collaboration With TED

The comedian Fred Allen once said that “a human being is nothing but a story with skin around it.” But what if there are consequences to telling our stories? Perhaps there is something going on at work, in your personal life, or in your community that leaves you feeling vulnerable, but that has given you an important idea you want to share — if you could only do so without being known. Maybe you want to get something out in the open that is too important to keep hidden. Well, there’s about to be a venue for such stories (and they’re accepting submissions).

See this joint announcement from Audible and TED for more info:

This fall, TED and Audible will begin a hunt for ideas in hiding. We’re launching a new program together, which will introduce ideas worth spreading shared by speakers who want to remain anonymous. We’re calling it Sincerely, X and it represents a bold new way to use the intimacy of audio to present ideas that transcend personality, judgement, and bias. TED and Audible will seek out and curate original speakers whose secrets have given shape to an idea that matters, and we’ll bring you their journey.

Later this year Sincerely, X will debut on Channels, Audible’s new short-form audio service featuring original series and handcrafted playlists.

“At TED, we’ve made it our mission to track down a special breed of under-celebrated hero — people who have knowledge that matters — and then give them a platform that can make their ideas accessible,” said Chris Anderson, TED’s curator and owner. “In creating Sincerely, X with Audible as our home for anonymous TED Talks, we hope to bring out to the world new ideas that otherwise would remain hidden, possibly forever.”

“TED Talks are already among the most popular offerings in Audible Channels,” said Eric Nuzum, SVP of Original Content at Audible. “As we expand our repertoire with programs likeMortal City and Presidents Are People, Too we are thrilled to partner with TED to develop this important new series.”

If you have an important idea and would like to share it in an anonymous TED Talk on Sincerely, X, we invite you to submit it to us using this confidential form.
