Award-winning actor Daniel Dae Kim's performances have spanned many genres. From haunting true crime, to tear-jerking dramas, the Korean actor’s career speaks to the power of getting comfortable with pushing your boundaries. (And when the actor adds author to his credits with the release of his memoir next fall, we expect even more barriers to be broken.) Kim's list of all-time favorite listens features five writers who have done exactly the same: push boundaries and, as a result, become trailblazers in their own right.

It’s always inspiring to listen to the words of great people, especially in their own voices. A narrator can often make or break an audiobook, and there’s nothing better than a great performance straight from the author. It’s one of the things that makes Audible unique.
This is another incredible author performance. Ali is able to put together vulnerability, candor, and humor about parenthood and life in such a winning combination. Hearing her tell stories never fails to make me laugh.
What audiobook list is complete without a self-help selection? I enjoyed these practical tips on how to increase productivity and have already started implementing many of the suggestions into my daily life.
This one might be a bit unorthodox, but I really like listening to plays in audio, especially when they’re by playwrights I love—like Beckett. It’s a treat to be able to hear actors deliver dialogue from a play they may have also performed live. The loss of live theater over the past year has been devastating to so many, and I hope we’ll all be able to enjoy the gift of these talents on stage again soon.
