Poetry Winner: The Poems of T. S. Eliot

Without a doubt, poetry is having a moment right now, which is why we brought it back as a category this year. As Editor Rachel so eloquently notes in an episode of Audicted, there is a new generation of poets that are gaining prominence through social media, tapping into this old tradition and transforming it in new ways. But our winner this year is a collection of classic works elevated to new heights by a staggering and haunting performance. T.S. Eliot’s headier poems—The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and The Waste Land especially—have always felt somehow voiced from a deity above, and Iron’s gravelly gravitas does them justice in a way to which my own inner monologue could never compare. —Emily, Audible Editor
