    • You're Going to Mars! (Whether You like It or Not)
    • From the "Everpresent Stink" to the eight-generation cycles of indentured servitude, the reality of You’re Going to Mars! is not one I’d choose to inhabit. But after a few chapters side by side with Paper and her triplet sibs, Rock and Scissors, I think I would happily endure it. By turns vibrant and muted, narrator Khristine Hvam draws out the mirth and emotional depth evident in Dircks’ characters, creating an appealing contrast to the dystopian setting; this also gives the novel more than a fair amount of crossover appeal to sci-fi and YA readers alike.

    • Alas, Poor Jenny...
    • From the cover featuring a taxidermized, Yorick-like mouse to the silly asides peppered throughout the listening experience, Let's Pretend This Never Happened is always on-brand, awkward, and hilarious. Jenny performs the narration herself (emphasis on "perform"), adding personal flourishes which truly make this book sing—quite literally in that she belts out the chapter titles like a manic, singsong opera star. Sound effects and musical transitions further add to the absurdist charm, elevating the horrible yet hilarious stories from her childhood to larger-than-life status. Because Jenny is so genuine, intimate, and vulnerable, you'll be laughing with her—not at her—and possibly to the point of tears (I'm looking at you, "Stanley the Magical, Talking Squirrel"). This audiobook is the perfect gift for anyone who grapples with anxiety or other neuroatypical issues—but it's also a great choice for the minimally afflicted individuals in your life.

    • Where the Wild Turtles Roam
    • A thoughtful, heartwarming, and playful production of Klassen's awesome conclusion to his Hat trilogy. The music captures the mood perfectly and even elevates the kind, irreverent nature of the story. Unlike the other stories in the trilogy, this audiobook is a perfect standalone listening experience that does not require the physical book for full enjoyment.
