True story:

I bought my humble secondhand car because the speedometer made me feel like I was in the cockpit of a spaceship. Yeah, yeah, it gets good gas mileage and has decent resale value, but mainly, it looks like a freaking spaceship. Well, in just a few short days, I’m piloting that ship on a 14-hour roadtrip through the Midwest, en route to my new planet (apartment), and a journey this momentous requires a stellar listen.

I just started Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and I’m feeling like it could be the winner: Like me, its human characters are on a one-way mission in search of their new home, and narrator Mel Hudson has the kind of soothing, yet animated voice I wouldn’t mind spending 14+ hours with. I’m hoping my co-pilot (er…husband) is on board—but I am the captain (driver)…so I think I get first pick. Can you tell I’m already feeling antsy about spending that much time in a car? Thank goodness for good listens!
