Excellent epic fantasy
Revisado: 11-18-24
This was excellent epic fantasy. The author must have loved Wheel of Time, since there were many instances of certain word uses that were present there as well. The fact the same audio narrators, who are wonderful, really made it more poignant. It is not that those words or phrases are "copied" or even copyrighted only to WOT, but it was very reminiscent and not at all in a bad way.
The characters all grow, and certain twists happen that I did not see coming, some that I did see coming.... (no spoilers)
My wife also enjoyed this quite a bit as well.

Been wanting to listen to this a long time
Revisado: 10-15-24
I saw the movie, which I really enjoyed back when it came out. So much so, that I said I would always go back and read the book. Fast forward a few decades, and I finally got to this audio for Halloween time.
The book largely follows the movie or vice versa. There were a few deeper bits or extra scenes, but it was a shorter novel anyway.
The narrator did a fine job. I enjoyed the light Canadian accents at times in dialogue. He did not change his voice overly much, but not every narrator can or needs to do that.
I must say that I believe I liked the movie more. I am going to watch the director's cut again tonight or on the weekend, now that I have completed the audiobook. There were certain elements in the movie that were more exciting. I can see why the director wanted it that way for that particular medium. The book was pretty good, too.

Really enjoyed this latest installment
Revisado: 10-10-24
I really enjoyed this installment and have had a great time with the series. I still must say I prefer the 1st book. There are certain elements that were dramatized (the Voice of the great ones) that were talked ABOUT via only certain characters that could hear them in their heads. But, the Voice and its delivery was just super, and felt missed,
I enjoyed also how certain characters from the first two books showed up again.
If the series continues, I would probably get the next one too.

Enjoyed this space zombie thriller
Revisado: 10-04-24
This was tied into the Threshold universe, and it was enjoyable. It did have some of the same elements of the previous books as far as the group of people were concerned. It was enjoyable space zombies and more. I did prefer the first book in the series the best so far. I am interested in Terminus, so I will get that one as well.

The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

Revisado: 09-30-24
Loved the book.
Two things would have been better in my opinion:
1)Not having the MF God swear in the last 2 hours of the book
and potential spoiler:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.2) Having the same hungering voice actually be VOICED this time too, would have been so great. Ray nailed it on book 1, and while another character heard it and bled from eyes, etc, it was handled via "offscreen." I would have preferred it to have been present, not just halfway told about it as the character was in mental shock.
.
.
.
Anyhow, reading the next book now. I enjoy Peter Cline's writing so fa, and the narrator is always great.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Idolized this book in paper in the 80's
Revisado: 09-06-24
Well, I absolutely loved the paperback version of this that I bought from the bookstore in the eighties. To this day, i have quoted the ending on how cool it was that the main character did as the title states. I check back on audible for old favorites and pick them up when audio formatted to listen on my commute.
I know it was a long time ago. I know it was a paper medium. I know I was a different person back then.
But.,,,
This book was super slow burn. I also do not believe the narrator was right, though he did a great job with voices and such. Mostly the writing is very different than what you typically see for a story nowadays. The author has successfully written tons of books.
Just go into it, that it is a slow book, and mostly, I don't want to say "cerebral" but kind of like that, since it is not an intellectual type novel either. I think if it would be contemparily written, it would be quite different.
Enjoyable, glad I was able to re-read this one.

Was super awesome!
Revisado: 08-02-24
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Nemesis Saga last year, so when I saw this come across recommended, I scooped it up. I listened and absolutely LOVED it. I laughed out loud many times in this book while driving on commute or at lunch, making people look at me. hahah.
I told my wife last night about how I felt about the end (before the epilogue). In Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie: (Potential spoilers if you havent seen that from a few years ago) Kraglin looks on at the ending when the Ravagers show up for Yondu's funeral, and screams, "YEAH!!!" -That is how I felt. Alot of emotion.
Jermey Robinson definitely knocked it out of the stadium. I wasn't sure about the alternate version/parallel world thing, but it is its own story with some new and different characters making it very fresh. It is a totally new story and not a rehash.
RC Bray conveyed more humor to me than I recall in any of his other books I have listened to, and that was great. He embodies the main character's voice very well, a grizzelled veteran agent getting ready to retire.

Pretty good comic to novelization
Revisado: 07-29-24
I have found myself looking more at Venom since the movies came out, and enjoying the occasional video game that his him in them. I wonder if he will make an appearance in Beyond the Spiderverse.... but I digress)
This was a pretty good story come to life from the graphic novel Lethal Protector (which I missed). There were several obvious comic book -isms that seemed to me to not translate too well into the novel form. It kinda felt a bit jarring. I had to take away a star for that, unfortunately.
The narrator did a good job with the performance. Glad they "made a Venom voice"
I overall enjoyed the book. Thanks!

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Enjoyed this new iteration of the Bobiverse
Revisado: 07-24-24
Honestly, I had thought the series was done after book 3 and was fine with that. Some series over extend themselves. And the premise of the Bob's having developed a schism within themselves and all, I did not find very appealing....
However, that is only a small portion of the book. The characters that we have grown to love are there, along with new ones. A new species to have adventures with takes up a large part of the book.
I found the story quite enjoyable and went to read the next one which I discovered was only on preorder status for Sept 2024.... So I did the re-read and this book 4 addition a little too early, lol. I had an email that said book 5 was out or so I had thought, and immediately got this one to continue. That's on me for not paying thorough attention. Anyway, I am anxious for the next one, now that the Bob's have been part of my commute again for almost a month or so.
Very enjoyable series. Thanks!
