Too many unnecessary details
Revisado: 10-27-23
I got through half before I listened to narration of someone preparing a meal and the excessive detail about such a mundane task irritated me. I had an idea of where the story was going but not the willingness to await the climax by painfully enduring a drawn out storyline. Not a very good story writer and very boring.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. George Orwell once wrote of a world where abuse of power begins with an abuse of language and a bastardization of truth. Some of today's most exciting voices in speculative fiction explore the ramifications of those ideas in Ignorance Is Strength.

Lots of Left Leaning Politics
Revisado: 10-05-22
Don’t we get enough of this? Some of the stories were great but others were just boring ordinary rhetoric you can find blue hairs screaming about on Twitter. So, if you’re into that you’ll enjoy this. Some stories were creative so I wouldn’t discount this completely. I love of good dystopian story as much as anyone and I don’t worship at the alter of progressive dogma, yet I enjoyed a few stories. Not total trash.

But my time listening will never come back. I think I got to Ep.2 before I wanted to kill my beans (earbuds). So there’s that.
I could explain why I hate it but that would be too easy. I’ll have to let you suffer by listening to it for that answer.
Good luck!

Sam and Graham are highly entertaining, fun, and even hilarious at times. The stubborn old dog and the fire haired daredevil embark on a journey to learn about themselves and their heritage with many bits along the way that keep it interesting. By the end of this story all I want to do is hang out with these guys, drink scotch and wine whilst getting into some shenanigans.

Historia
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Pure Excellence
Revisado: 09-04-21
This book is so good I don't even know where to start. The character building is amazing and he's so good at creating these people that I found myself drawn to them. I actually felt an attachment to fictional people because they're so authentic and just... human. Most of the time one or two fictional characters are built up and the rest are just noise to the story. These people are the story, all of them. Gayou is a fantastic writer, one of my new favorites. I can't wait to to listen to every single book he's written. I'm writing this review after I've already listened to the 2nd book because anyone on the fence might need a little push but I'm shoving you because you HAVE TO buy this right now. It goes without saying but RC Bray is the best narrator, ever. The 2nd book is equally as great as the 1st. On to the 3rd!

Not surprised about the reviews but disagree
Revisado: 08-06-21
I found this story quite brilliant. I understand how people might not like the monotone AI voice BUT, hear me out here, there's still a great deal of emotion and that's the unique aspect of the story. It's not an AI that was spontaneously generated by humans, this is an AI that was once a human. It's not typical nor was it boring. Humans that have never known Earth makes their progression from children to adults so fascinating. All terrestrial aspects of life are foreign to these cosmos born humans and being along as they learn to navigate a world that is totally foreign is so interesting. It took a lot of imagination to write this story. The actions are always predictable but the encounters are so strange to imagine.
I've never heard of this author but I enjoyed the first book and will be listening to the next. I do agree the end is abrupt but I'm willing to go along with it because it was free. Had I paid, that would be irritating because I've listened to a single novel that was over 20hours. That doesn't deter people from listening, at least avid listeners wouldn't mind :)

Historia
Miah Gray is a 27-year-old former army soldier living in rural New Hampshire with his sister, mother, and her boyfriend. He is plagued by PTSD, finding solace, but not redemption, with the aid of prescribed cannabis. All he wants to do is get high, relax with a good sandwich, and watch a meteor shower with his neighborhood crush, Jen. When the sun's light is blotted out the following morning and the world is plunged into darkness, Miah finds himself locked down with his family, covering windows with trash bags, lighting candles, and following the arcane rules of an ancient prophecy.

Demonic Aliens?
Revisado: 07-22-21
Not satisfied with this story. I stopped it at 1 hour and 15 minutes left because frankly, I don't care how it ends. The battle with alien demons vs halfway gargoyles was long, drawn out, mind numbing garbage. The comedic attempts fall flat and the main character is supposed to be some edgy guy but truly is just cringe. Also not left is are references to every -ism that's popular with the delicate mobs of society. Oh and I mustn't forget the oddly placed Nazi reference because never miss a chance amiright!?. RC Bray, good as usual.

Historia
The ice is coming. It was the last thing we expected, but the world is freezing. A new ice age has dawned. Billions have fled the glaciers. A cataclysmic war is coming. In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

Absolutely Wonderful!
Revisado: 07-14-21
A breath of fresh air for me. I'd been listening to, what seemed like, the same story over and over but with a new cast. It didn't help that RC Bray seemed to be narrating them all. I love Bray but I needed to hear something different. I'm so glad I chose this. It's a space sci-fi my favorite genre except it was more than that. The author does an incredible job describing emotion and human nature. If you're starting to feel monotony with this genres storylines this is the perfect break from it.

I wanted to like it. It had no reviews and I wanted something off the beating path of my usual space-scifi. Well, prepare to enter into the dystopian future of a delusional leftist. That's what you get. Mein Kamph on the leaders bookshelf! Imagine my shock. Honestly, I seen it coming halfway through the book when the author mentions a relatives politician father who used to be a sane Republican. Don't we have enough of this in our lives? Do we need to occupy the lone moments we have to get away from the noise submerging back into the fantasy of what would happen if we let that orange man win... Oh the horror of it all! I stopped reading with 2 hours left. I don't need to finish it. I know what happens. This author is blacklisted to me.
