Historia
Lorena Hickok meets Eleanor Roosevelt in 1932 while reporting on Franklin Roosevelt's first presidential campaign. Having grown up worse than poor in South Dakota and reinvented herself as the most prominent woman reporter in America, "Hick", as she's known to her friends and admirers, is not quite instantly charmed by the idealistic, patrician Eleanor. But then, as her connection with the future first lady deepens into intimacy, what begins as a powerful passion matures into a lasting love, and a life that Hick never expected to have.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 08-27-23
I feel at times it was difficult to follow. Its written jumping back and forth through time and has some tangents, but overall it is a beautiful story.

Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Awesome
Revisado: 07-21-23
I grew up in poverty. I didn’t realize it until I was older. I knew kids like her. I befriended them often and we had good times good memories. I’m sure some of the trauma and emotional hardship are things we all feel, but she presents the acuteness from human to women to dark black women, and it is profound.

Historia
With the Beatles, John Lennon surpasses his youthful dreams, achieving a level of superstardom that defies classification. “We were the best bloody band there was,” he says. “There was nobody to touch us.” Nobody except the original nowhere man, Mark David Chapman. Chapman once worshipped his idols from afar - but now harbors grudges against those, like Lennon, whom he feels betrayed him. He’s convinced Lennon has misled fans with his message of hope and peace. And Chapman’s not staying away any longer.

Good
Revisado: 01-26-23
The narrators could sound a little creepy at times and I’m sure that was the point. It was a good recap/look into the life and the days leading up to JL’s assassination. Still sad.

I thoroughly enjoyed it
Revisado: 09-22-22
I would never have been able to hear this as quickly as with narration. As it it it took me weeks to be able to find time to listen. The story is great and I enjoyed it. I think I have overexposed myself to “who-dun-it” mysteries for too long tho as I could see through many (not all) of the foreshadowing instances in this book. Despite this I still very much enjoyed this story.
