Historia
In the summer of 1985, a brilliant young British DNA scientist Helena Greenwood is found murdered in her front garden in a quiet suburb in California. The police believe they know the killer’s identity but there’s no evidence against him, and the only thing linking him to the crime is the fact he’d been charged with sexually assaulting Helena just a few months previously.

Thought provoking
Revisado: 01-17-24
Author/narrator did an exceptional job presenting both the historical & present day facts of this case. Very thought provoking. I can only add that the author should have told her listening audience if "Dustin" was released. We are so invested in his story it would have been good to know.

Historia
Eva Kavinsky wakes in a dark cellar, with no memory of how she got here. Imprisoned with her, seemingly at random, are four men. The only way out is the trapdoor in the ceiling – and it's locked. The single clue about what brings them all here is a cryptic message sprayed onto one wall. Connect the dots. Repent. A camera fixed high above reach is livestreaming this whole nightmare to the world. What confessions are they meant to make to their unseen audience?

Love this author, but ...
Revisado: 12-03-23
Ugh
I always like forward to new work by JP Pomare, BUT... this one really bothered me. It's a good work, no doubt, as the author always crafts a good read. But, the author really betrays the reader at the end of this one, and it was without purpose, unnecessary. Don't make your reader invest in a character & then do that, it was performative and a knife in the back.

Great book, great writer, great readers
Revisado: 07-02-22
I don't have anything overly critical to say about this book, and lots of accolades for all the parts & pieces that made it so enjoyable! I do kind of wish Charlie had more than a passing curiosity concerning her father, that Coop had been more of a character with traits to make us deplore him instead of most of his character being second hand, told to us. But, the weaving of the story there was very good & definitely earned it's 5 stars.

Historia
This wasn’t the plan. Judge Herman Calvert, 88, never thought he’d outlive his beloved wife, Marie. Yet now he finds himself alone, a grieving widower, desperate for escape from the home they built together, where every turn brings a painful reminder of his late wife. So the judge retreats to his lake cabin in rural Wisconsin, a place where an old man can find peace and solitude. A place where nature can take its course. But something new has moved in.

Loved the story, and the voice performance was very good, as well. Wished it were longer because I enjoyed the setting so much, I hated for it to end. Time well spent!

eh...you can skip this
Revisado: 06-30-20
I kept skipping to get to the meat of the book, while trying to get over the authors high school book report voice. Made myself finish to be fair in my assessment, but it gets a big Nope. Somehow the author wants the reader to believe that because she was in mental institutes and depressed and attempted suicide and built a financially lucrative business, that you can too if you just get out of your own way. That's the condensed version of the book. If they appeals to you, read it.

Historia
LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis has solved a lot of murder cases. On many of them - the ones he calls "different" - he taps the brain of brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware. But neither Alex nor Milo are prepared for what they find on an early morning call to a deserted mansion in Bel Air. This one’s beyond different. This is predation, premeditation, and cruelty on a whole new level. Four people have been slaughtered and left displayed bizarrely and horrifically in a stretch limousine. Confounding the investigation, none of the victims seems to have any connection to any other.
