Historia
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

A view into the lives of less than perfect people
Revisado: 12-06-18
This is certainly a departure from the author's previous books. Not to worry though, it's just as good as anything else she has written. This book takes a honest and sometimes brutal look at he lives of people we may not want to think about. The book centers on the lives of the inhabitants of a small town, and how they view each other, most of the time unfairly and without compassion. The depictions of Crystal and her family are heart breaking and indescribably sad. Although I have worked as a court appointed special advocate and foster parent, Crystal's story is chilling and maybe too common.

An entertaining illumination of the stupid beliefs that make us feel wise. You believe you are a rational, logical being who sees the world as it really is, but journalist David McRaney is here to tell you that you're as deluded as the rest of us. But that's OK - delusions keep us sane. You Are Not So Smart is a celebration of self-delusion. It's like a psychology class, with all the boring parts taken out, and with no homework. Based on the popular blog of the same name, You Are Not So Smart collects more than 46 of the lies we tell ourselves everyday.

Thought provoking and engaging
Revisado: 12-05-18
I was looking for something that would be easy to listen to while I was driving. This book was easy to listen to but, thought provoking. It was easy pick up listening, and restart, after I was in and out of my car. However, I also found myself wanting to go back and listen to previous chapters over again, to reflect on different studies and anecdotes. I would reflect on my own behaviors and beliefs after each chapter. I am planning on going back to listen to this book again, it's worth the time. I think it would also be a good book to listen to with a spouse or friend as I believe it will provoke good conversations!

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

New to the Harry Potter books
Revisado: 12-05-18
I hadn't considered listening to the Harry Potter books, but I was glad I tried the first book, I was hooked after listening to the first chapter. I couldn't seem to find time to read the books, even though my children had loved them. I was quickly captivated by the audible performance. I went on to listen to all 8 books. I loved them all.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 06-04-18
Expected a how to book with actionable information. However this feels more like a sermon than a how to book. Disappointing, I can’t even finish it.
