Historia
Stormy Bay is a dying town nestled against an eerily placid ocean, and Ray Lilly is trapped in it. He can barely remember his name let alone his mission for the Twenty Palace society. Worse, he realizes that for some time now he's been living as a puppet, his body and mind under the complete domination of an unknown power, and the townsfolk think this puppet is his real identity. And that power can still seize control of Ray's body at any time, forcing him and the people around him to playact in nonsense stories that center around a mysterious boy and his monster dog.

This all seems strangely familiar...
Revisado: 10-21-23
An excellent tone shift from Ray and Annalise's usual (mis)adventures, giving us time to catch our breath and let their personalities develop. A great listen!

Historia
The three original spellbooks, source of all magic in the world, have been found, and Ray Lilly has already "acquired" one. Now he and Annalise are on a historic mission to get the other two and they're ready to kill anyone who gets in their way. If they succeed, the Twenty Palace Society will become more powerful than it has ever been and could truly safeguard humanity from both extra-dimensional predators and the people who summon them. But this time their enemies are more formidable than any they've ever faced before.

It just hit the fan(s)
Revisado: 10-21-23
If you've made it this far in the Twenty Palaces series you are already invested in Ray and Annalise's breakneck chase after Predators and the rogue sorcerers that summon them. this time though we're starting to scale up the story from sleepy mountain towns and isolated warehouses and entering a world of global movers and conflicts leading to an explosive ending. Can't wait for the next entry!

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

An Excellent Start for a New Epic
Revisado: 08-21-12
It's easy to see from this novel why Brandon Sanderson was chosen to follow in Robert Jordan's ("The Wheel of Time") footsteps by his wife and editor Harriet. It's a masterful tale, and sets the stage for an epic conflict that spans ages and realms. I am eagerly awaiting the next entry in the series.

Decent, but not Incredible
Revisado: 07-17-12
If you're listening to Ghost Story, you're invested in The Dresden Files already, and thus James Marsters' narration. John seems to give it a decent try, but the result is lackluster compared to that investment.
Changing narrators at this date is similar to replacing the entirety of the cast of a TV show in it's third season and expecting the ratings to stay the same. It ultimately doesn't work at all.
