I don’t usually leave reviews. But this was the most disturbing Colleen Hoover book I have read…and I didn’t think anything could beat Verity. This may be one of the most disturbing I’ve read in general. I think it’s extremely interesting to have the POV of BOTH protagonists, as well as the antagonist. I’m torn on Asa though not evenly. He was bad, no way around it. But hearing his inner dialogue helped me understand him, even when I COULDN’T understand him…if that even makes sense. This wasn’t an easy read at all. I appreciated the trigger warning as I knew going in it would be hard to listen to. Overall, if you can stomach the sexual and domestic violence, the story has a good message/meaning. I agree with a lot of the comments about the female narrator. She’s not horrible but she needs to stop dragging out her words. It’s very distracting. The males voicing Luke and Asa were spot on. Asa even SOUNDED sinister. His narrator just had that essence to his voice. Sloane broke my heart in a lot of ways bc I could identify with her so much in my younger years and being naive to the point of self destruction simply bc she didn’t understand what was going on. Poor girl. Anyway, give it a listen. It’s a great book.
